Radio Tip Top
''Radio Tip Top'' was a BBC Radio 1 comedy programme broadcast from 1995 to 1996. Produced by the Tip Top Organisation (co-founded by Nigel Proktor), the show was a retro take on 1960s broadcasting, presented by The Ginger Prince (Nigel Proktor) and Kid Tempo (Eli Hourd). The program encouraged listener interaction and offered free membership to Club Tip Top, which also sold numerous items of merchandise. The tag line to the show was "If it ain't tip-top, then it ain't Tip Top". One of the features of the show was a live performance from the Starlight Rooms hosted by The Ginger Prince, which featured a band called Blinder, whose lead singer was called Knocker. They performed various covers of songs around at the time. Prior to BBC Radio 1 it was a pirate radio station broadcasting on a Wednesday night to the London area. BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day. The station provides alternative genres at night, including electronica, dance, hip hop and indie, while its sister station 1Xtra plays black contemporary music, including hip hop and R&B. M was an English new wave and synthpop music project from London, England, led by English musician Robin Scott in the late 1970s and early 1980s. M is most known for the 1979 hit "Pop Muzik", which reached number two in the UK Singles Chart in May 1979, and number one in the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart on 3 November 1979. Musicians who contributed to M at one time or another included Wally Badarou, Mark King, Phil Gould and Gary Barnacle of Level 42. Career Scott first used the pseudonym M in 1978, when he released the single "Moderne Man". "Pop Muzik" is a 1979 song by M, a project by English musician Robin Scott, from the debut album ''New York • London • Paris • Munich''. The single, first released in the UK in early 1979, was bolstered by a music video (directed by Brian Grant) that was well received by critics. The clip featured Scott as a DJ singing into a microphone from behind an exaggerated turntable setup, at times flanked by two female models who sang and danced in a robotic manner. The video also featured Brigit Novik, Scott's wife at the time, who provided the backup vocals for the track. The single's B-side, "M Factor", was featured in two different versions. The original cut appeared on the first UK and European releases of the single, while a slightly remixed version appeared on the single released in the United States and Canada. Babylon Zoo
Babylon Zoo were an English rock band formed in 1992 in Wolverhampton. Their song " Spaceman" gained considerable exposure through its use in a Levi's jeans television advert in the United Kingdom in late 1995. Released as the band's debut single on 21 January 1996, it entered the UK Singles Chart at number one. "Spaceman" led to the band being considered a one-hit wonder; they had little success with any subsequent releases. Career Frontman Jas Mann had formerly been in an indie music band, called The Sandkings. Eternal (group)
Eternal were a British R&B girl group formed in 1992, with the line-up consisting of Easther Bennett and her older sister Vernie Bennett, with Kéllé Bryan and her friend and classmate Louise Redknapp, who were also recruited into the group by the label. The group became an international success, selling around 10 million records worldwide. Louise Redknapp left the group before the release of their second album to focus on her solo career with the same label. Kéllé Bryan left the group under undisclosed circumstances in 1998. Sisters Easther Bennett and Vernie Bennett were the only members left when they disbanded in 2000. Eternal made a brief comeback in 2013, with Kéllé Bryan returning to the group, only for the group to disband once again in 2014.
