''RadioWest'' is an hour-long radio show on history, politics, arts and culture, with a focus on the western United States and especially Utah. Hosted by Doug Fabrizio, it is produced at KUER. KUER-FM (90.1 MHz) is a public radio station in Salt Lake City, Utah. Owned by the University of Utah, its studios are located in the Eccles Broadcast Center on the University of Utah campus, while its transmitter is located on Farnsworth Peak, after relocating from Mount Vision in the Oquirrh Mountains in 2011. The station primarily carries National Public Radio programming and other syndicated content distributed by Public Radio International and American Public Media. It is also the producer of ''RadioWest'', a local news discussion program focusing on Utah and the Western United States. Doug Fabrizio
Doug Fabrizio (born July 18, 1964) is an American radio host and commentator. He is host of RadioWest, a popular talk show heard on KUER; RadioWest is syndicated by PRI with a focus on the western United States and especially Utah. Fabrizio began working for the University of Utah FM news/music station KUER in 1987, and became News Director in 1993. In 2001 he was one of the originators of the program ''RadioWest'' on the station. The format then, as at present, is a 55-minute interview with an invited prominent guest on a pre-announced topic. Listeners are usually able to call in with questions or comments. After a few years of growing audience acceptance and participation, the show was picked up for broadcast on Sirius XM Public Radio, where it aired for 5 years. Proposition 8, known informally as Prop 8, was a California ballot proposition and a constitutional amendment, state constitutional amendment intended to ban same-sex marriage; it passed in the California state elections, November 2008, November 2008 California state elections and was later overturned in court. Kate Kelly (feminist)
Kathleen Marie Kelly, known as Kate Kelly, is an American activist, human rights lawyer, and Mormon feminist who founded Ordain Women, an organization advocating for the ordination of women to the priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Kelly was excommunicated from the church in 2014. She is also a nationally known advocate for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and abortion access. Kelly came out as queer in 2019 and began a same-sex relationship with a Catholic writer pushing for similar goals within the Catholic Church. Ordain Women is a Mormon feminist organization that supports the ordination of women to the priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Jim Matheson
James David Matheson (born March 21, 1960) is an American politician who served as a United States Representative from Utah from 2001 to 2015. He represented Utah's 2nd district from 2001 to 2013 and its from 2013 to 2015 as a member of the Democratic Party. While in office, he was Utah's only Democratic congressman, and his district was one of the most Republican-leaning districts to be represented by a Democrat. On December 17, 2013, Matheson announced he would not seek reelection in the 2014 elections. There was speculation that Matheson, a moderate Democrat, might run in 2016 for Governor of Utah or for the Utah U.S. Senate seat coming open then, but this did not happen.
