Racquetball At The 2018 South American Games
Racquetball (Spanish: ''Ráquetbol''), for the 2018 South American Games was held from 27 May to 3 June 2018 in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Tournament format The 2018 South American Games racquetball competition has two parts. The individual competitions in Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles, and a Team competition. The individual competitions will be held first beginning on May 27 and concluding on June 1. Three of the individual competitions will have a group stage followed by an elimination stage to determine the medalists. The exception is Men’s Doubles, which will be a five country round robin competition. The Team competition will be June 2 and 3. The racquetball venue is Complejo Polifuncional de Sarco. Cochabamba
Cochabamba ( ay, Quchapampa; qu, Quchapampa) is a city and municipality in central Bolivia in a valley in the Andes mountain range. It is the capital of the Cochabamba Department and the fourth largest city in Bolivia, with a population of 630,587 according to the 2012 Bolivian census. María José Vargas (born March 18, 1993) is a Bolivian-born Argentine racquetball player. She is the current Pan American Champion in Women's Doubles, as well as part of the Women's Team Pan Am Champions and the current South American Racquetball Champion in Women's Singles and Doubles. Vargas has five wins on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT), and has finished in the top 10 seven times - five of those were within the top three with her career best coming in 2014-15, when she finished #2. 2006-2012 - Early years & playing for Bolivia Vargas played at thInternational Racquetball Federation (IRF)World Junior Championships several times as a junior player, representing Bolivia. Racquetball At The South American Games
Racquetball is a racquet sport and a team sport played with a hollow rubber ball on an indoor or outdoor court. Joseph Sobek invented the modern sport of racquetball in 1950, adding a stringed racquet to paddleball in order to increase velocity and control. Unlike most racquet sports, such as tennis and badminton, there is no net to hit the ball over, and, unlike squash, no tin (out of bounds area at the bottom of front wall) to hit the ball above. Also, the court's walls, floor, and ceiling are legal playing surfaces, with the exception of court-specific designated hinders being out-of-bounds. Racquetball is played between various players on a team who try to bounce the ball with the racquet onto the ground so it hits the wall, so that an opposing team’s player cannot bounce it back to the wall. Carolina Gómez Correa (born 26 February 1975) is a Colombian actress, TV host, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Colombia 1993 and placed 1st runner-up at Miss Universe 1994.
