Rabia Qari
Rabia Qari ( ur, ) (also known as Rabia Sultana Qari) was the first Muslim woman barrister of the South Asia and Pakistan. She was also the first woman elected Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) president in the 1960s, and the only woman to achieve this until Fakharunnisa Khokhar (or Fakharin Nisa Khokhar) was elected in 2005. She adopted 5 years old elder daughter of Boota Singh and Zainab. Barrister
A barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. Lahore High Court Bar Association
The Lahore High Court Bar Association ( ur, ) is situated in Lahore. Lahore Bar (presently Lahore High Court Bar) as a collective group took birth somewhere before 1892-93 and its first President was elected in 1893. In 1910 the Executive Committee recommended that the Bar Association should be registered accordingly. The General House on 9 June 1910, accepted the recommendations and registered it as Bar Association. Boota Singh sometimes spelled as Buta Singh, was a Sikh ex-soldier of the British Army who served at the Burma front under the command of Lord Mountbatten during World War II. He is popularly known in India and Pakistan for his tragic love story with Zainab, a Muslim girl he rescued during the communal riots in the time of partition of India in 1947. They both fell in love and got married. Later, being a Muslim, Zainab was deported by Indian authorities and sent to the newly created Pakistan. Singh illegally entered Pakistan to reinstate contact with Zainab, but she ended the marriage under pressure from her family. In 1957, after the failure of the marriage, he committed suicide by jumping before an upcoming train near Shahdara station in Pakistan along with his daughter, but she survived.
