RD350
The RD350 is a two-stroke motorcycle produced by Yamaha from 1973 to 1975. It evolved directly from the piston port (pre-reed valve intake tract), front drum-braked, five-speed Yamaha 350 cc "R5". The engine is an air-cooled, parallel twin, six-speed (in some markets, such as the UK, the first model was sold in five-speed form), reed valve-equipped intake tract two-stroke engine. The bike is usually referred to as a sport bike. All models were equipped with "Autolube" automatic oil injection, relieving the user from the need to mix gasoline and two-stroke oil. Rim sizes are 18" WM2 (1.85") front and 18" WM3 (2.15") rear, both being of chromed, wire spoked steel construction. In the UK, rim sizes were 1.60 front and 1.85 rear. Brakes are: single front disc brake and a rear drum brake, a combination described by ''Cycle Magazine'' as the best in its class. Rajdoot 350
The Rajdoot, also known as the RD, was a two-stroke Yamaha motorcycle made in India by Escorts group from 1983 to 1989. RD stands for 'Race derived' , in India promoted by Rajdoot in collaboration with Yamaha Japan. It is a licensed copy of the Yamaha RD350B, modified to suit Indian conditions. Even though the production of the air-cooled Yamaha RD350 had ended in Japan in the mid-1970s due to stringent emissions norms, it was a technically advanced motorcycle in the Indian market in 1983. It has a 7-port two stroke parallel twin engine, Yamaha's patented ''Torque Induction System'' using reed valves, 6-speed manual transmission, autolube system, mechanical tachometer, 12 volt electrics and 0-60 km/h in less than four seconds. Yamaha R5
The Yamaha R5 is a motorcycle made by Yamaha for production years 1970 (R5), 1971 (R5B) and 1972 (R5C). It was the first iteration of a new generation of horizontally split crankcase two strokes that also included the RD350 and culminated in the RD400. The engine platform also included the 250cc variants (DS7/RD250). Two earlier generations of sporting 250cc and larger displacement air-cooled two strokes preceded the R5 dating back to 1959. Yamaha RD400
The RD400 is a two-stroke air cooled six-speed motorcycle produced by Yamaha from 1976 until 1979. It evolved directly from the Yamaha RD350 The 350 evolved into the RD400C in 1976, the "D" and "E" in '77–'78 and the final model, the white 1979 RD400F. (The model year for the first RD400, which was sold in the U.S. in the summer of 1975, was 1976.) The RD series was discontinued due to new emissions rules in the late 70's and eventually all road motorcycles were 4-stroke engines and did not burn oil with the fuel mixture to lubricate the pistons. The RD400 came with a unique self-cancelling light system that measured wheel rotations after the indicator lights were enabled. Two-stroke oil (also referred to as two-cycle oil, 2-cycle oil, 2T oil, or 2-stroke oil) is a special type of motor oil intended for use in crankcase compression two-stroke engines, typical of small gasoline-powered engines.
