Thabazimbi
Thabazimbi is an iron mining town in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The town is at the feet of the Ysterberg and is surrounded by the Witfonteinrand and Boshofberg with the majestic Kransberg in the background. The name Thabazimbi means ''mountain of iron'' because of the large iron ore reef that was discovered in 1919 by J. H. Williams. The mine boasts one of the largest mining shafts in Africa. More than 2 million tons of ore are mined every year and hauled by train to Mittal's iron and steel works. The railway line from Rustenburg reached the area in the 1930s and full scale iron and steel production began. The town was proclaimed in 1953. Bela-Bela (Tswana language, Tswana/Pedi for "the pot that boils") is a town in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Deriving its name from the geothermic hot springs around which the town was built, it was called Warmbaths, until 2002. The R511 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Sandton (north of Johannesburg) with Thabazimbi via Hartbeespoort and Brits. It is an alternative route to the R512 for travel between the Johannesburg Metropole and Brits. The R101 is a Regional Route in South Africa that is the designation for some of the old sections of roads that were previously the N1, prior to upgrading. It only has 2 sections, from Bellville to Worcester and from Johannesburg to Polokwane. Western Cape The R101 starts in Bellville at the R102 running to the east parallel to the newer N1 freeway and is named 'Old Paarl Road'. It then goes through Brackenfell before entering Kraaifontein as 'Voortrekker Road'. At the intersection with Maroela Road in Kraaifontein East it is renamed 'Old Paarl Road' before entering the Cape Winelands. In the Cape Winelands it goes through Klapmuts and then enters Paarl. The N1 is a national route in South Africa that runs from Cape Town through Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Polokwane to Beit Bridge on the border with Zimbabwe. Roedtan
Roedtan is a small town in the Limpopo province, South Africa, set in the midst of the Springbok Flats. Roedtan has a rail road station from Polokwane. At the road junction to Roedtan stands a monument to the battle of Moordrift in 1854 when 33 descendants mainly of Dutch settlers from the 17th and 18th centuries who had moved north from the Cape Colony to escape what they saw as oppressive rule by the British colonial government - such as having to give up their slaves (and, worse, having to co-exist with them on equal terms) in line with the legislated emancipation of all slaves in the British Empire in 1833) white people were killed in a skirmish with the local tribe headed by Makapane of Laka/Langa.
