The R500 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Magaliesburg with Parys via Carletonville and Fochville. Route The R500 begins in the North West, 10 kilometres west of Magaliesburg, at a junction with the R509, going southwards. After 2 kilometres, it crosses into Gauteng province. From the R509 junction, it goes southwards for 21 kilometres to reach a junction with the N14 National Route. It proceeds southwards for a further 3 kilometres to meet the western end of the R41 Route from Randfontein. From the R41 junction, the R500 continues southwards for 16 kilometres, bypassing Khutsong and the Abe Bailey Nature Reserve, to enter the towns of Oberholzer and Carletonville. It enters as Ada Street and becomes Station Street eastwards for a few metres (where it meets the R559 Route) before becoming Annan Road southwards. The R59 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Hertzogville with Alberton (south-east of Johannesburg) via Bothaville, Parys and Vereeniging. The R59 is a freeway from the R57 Junction in Sasolburg until the Alberton N12 Reading Interchange, signposted as the Sybrand van Niekerk Freeway. Route Free State The R59 begins at a t-junction with the R64 about 18 kilometres west of Dealesville. It heads north for 61 kilometres to the town of Hertzogville, where it meets the R708 at a t-junction next to the Palmietpan and they become co-signed northwards. Vaal River
The Vaal River ( ; Khoemana: ) is the largest tributary of the Orange River in South Africa. The river has its source near Breyten in Mpumalanga province, east of Johannesburg and about north of Ermelo and only about from the Indian Ocean. It then flows westwards to its conjunction with the Orange River southwest of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The R53 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Swartruggens with Parys via Ventersdorp and Potchefstroom. Route The R53 begins in Swartruggens, North West province, at a junction with the N4 National Route (Platinum Highway). It begins by going southwards for 45 kilometres to reach a junction with the R52 Road, which goes to Koster in the east and Lichtenburg in the west. From the R52 junction, the R53 continues south-south-east for 42 kilometres to reach a t-junction with the R30 Road in the town of Ventersdorp. Route The R54 begins at a junction with the N12 National Route approximately 9 kilometres north-east of Potchefstroom, North West. It heads eastwards, crossing into Gauteng Province and meeting the R500 Road. 62 km from Potchefstroom, the R54 passes over the N1 Kroonvaal Toll Route and enters the Vaal Triangle. The N12 is a national route in South Africa which runs from George through Beaufort West, Kimberley, Klerksdorp and Johannesburg to eMalahleni. It is the only other National Route after the N1 Route that connects the Western Cape Province with the Gauteng Province. Prior to 1971, the N12 from Johannesburg to Three Sisters was known as the N13. Route Summary The road starts in George in the Western Cape and ends in eMalahleni in Mpumalanga. The road runs roughly from south to north, however, once it passes Kimberley in the Northern Cape, it gradually turns eastward. The R501 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Carletonville with Viljoenskroon via Potchefstroom. Route It begins at a junction with the N12 National Route in Gauteng province (south-west of Westonaria), just west of the N12's intersection with the R28. It goes west for 19 kilometres and the first town it comes to is Carletonville, where it intersects with the R500 just south of the Carletonville city centre. After bypassing the town centre, it continues westwards to meet the south-western terminus of the R559. Just after, it crosses into the North West province, and gradually turns into a more southerly direction, bypassing the Boskop Dam, to reach Potchefstroom to the south-west. Route The R559 begins at a junction with the R558 Road in Protea Glen, Soweto, just north of the R558's intersection with the N12. It goes north-west for 17 kilometres to reach a junction with the R28 Road in the southern suburbs of Randfontein. From Randfontein, it turns to the south-west and goes for 22 kilometres, through Hillside, to reach a junction with Station Street.
