"R.A.M.O.N.E.S." is a song first recorded by the British rock band Motörhead on their 1991 album ''1916'' as a tribute to their friends and contemporaries, the Ramones. History The bands were long-standing admirers of each other's work. Critic Andy Boot, reviewing the album in ''Kerrang'' (27 February 1991) described the song as "the icing on a very fine, if somewhat heavy, cake." Joey Ramone said of the track: "It was the ultimate honor - like John Lennon writing a song for you". The track was first aired before Phil Taylor and Würzel left the band. The Ramones also performed it on and off until their final show in August 1996 at which C.J. Ramone and Lemmy shared lead vocals. Two different studio versions were recorded. One appears as a bonus track on their album ''¡Adios Amigos!'' with C.J. Ramone singing lead vocals and the other one on the ''Greatest Hits Live'' with Joey Ramone singing lead vocals. ''Greatest Hits Live'' is the third live album by the punk rock band the Ramones. It was released in 1996 on Radioactive Records. Background The album was recorded at The Academy in New York City on February 29, 1996. Its final two songs are bonus studio tracks that are covers, neither of which appeared on a Ramones album previously. "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." is originally by Motörhead, from the group's album ''1916''; the song was written as a tribute to the Ramones. The other is " Anyway You Want It", originally by The Dave Clark Five. Some editions do not feature the studio tracks. Two versions of the "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." cover song were recorded; one version that features Joey Ramone singing, and another version that features C.J. Ramone singing, which had previously been released as a bonus track on some editions of ''¡Adios Amigos!''. ''¡Adios Amigos!'' (in Spanish, "Goodbye Friends") is the fourteenth and final studio album by American punk rock band Ramones. It was released on July 18, 1995, through Radioactive Records. The Ramones disbanded a year after its release and subsequent tour. Background The album was recorded at Baby Monster Studios in New York City, and was the band's third album on Radioactive Records after leaving Sire due to lack of significant sales and chart success. Relations within the band were strained, due to Joey Ramone's deteriorating health—having been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma—Joey and Johnny Ramone’s decade-long feud and a burgeoning rift between Marky and C.J. Long-time friend Daniel Rey was once again recruited to produce, as he was liked by the entire band and knew how to provide a comfortable, pleasant experience for them in the studio. ''1916'' is the ninth studio album by British rock band Motörhead, released in January 1991. It was their first on WTG Records. The single "The One to Sing the Blues" peaked at number 45. The album was the final Motörhead album to feature Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor on drums in its entirety. Background In 1990, Motörhead frontman Lemmy moved from England to the U.S., settling in West Hollywood within walking distance of the Rainbow Bar and Grill. With Phil Carson managing the band, the sessions for what would become the album ''1916'' began with Ed Stasium, best known for producing the Ramones, Talking Heads, and Living Colour. The band recorded four songs with the producer before deciding he had to go. When Lemmy listened to a mix of ''Going to Brazil'', he asked him to turn up four tracks, and on doing so heard claves and tambourines Stasium had added without the band's knowledge. Marky Ramone
Marc Steven Bell (born July 15, 1952) is an American drummer. He began playing in hard rock bands in the New York City area, notably Dust and Estus. He was asked to drum for punk rock band Richard Hell and the Voidoids. He replaced drummer Tommy Ramone in the Ramones in 1978, and went by the stage name Marky Ramone from then on. He has also played drums for other punk rock and heavy metal bands, including his own band Marky Ramone and the Intruders. He continues to keep the Ramones legacy alive around the world with his band Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg. Ramone lives in Brooklyn Heights with his wife, Marion Flynn. Ian Fraser Kilmister (24 December 1945 – 28 December 2015), better known as Lemmy Kilmister or simply Lemmy, was an English musician. He was the founder, lead singer, bassist and primary songwriter of the rock band Motörhead, of which he was the only continuous member, and a member of Hawkwind from 1971 to 1975. ''Kiss of Death'' is the eighteenth studio album by British rock band Motörhead, released on 29 August 2006 via Steamhammer, their ninth with the label. Recording ''Kiss of Death'' was the second album Motörhead recorded with producer Cameron Webb and continues the heavy sound on the band's previous album ''Inferno''.
