Greatest Hits Live (Ramones Album)
''Greatest Hits Live'' is the third live album by the punk rock band the Ramones. It was released in 1996 on Radioactive Records. Background The album was recorded at The Academy in New York City on February 29, 1996. Its final two songs are bonus studio tracks that are covers, neither of which appeared on a Ramones album previously. "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." is originally by Motörhead, from the group's album ''1916''; the song was written as a tribute to the Ramones. The other is " Anyway You Want It", originally by The Dave Clark Five. Some editions do not feature the studio tracks. Two versions of the "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." cover song were recorded; one version that features Joey Ramone singing, and another version that features C.J. Ramone singing, which had previously been released as a bonus track on some editions of ''¡Adios Amigos!''. The Dave Clark Five
The Dave Clark Five, also known as the DC5, were an English rock and roll band formed in 1958 in Tottenham, London. Drummer Dave Clark served as the group's leader, producer and co-songwriter. In January 1964 they had their first UK top ten single, "Glad All Over", which knocked the Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" off the top of the UK Singles Chart. It peaked at No. 6 in the United States in April 1964. Although this was their only UK No. 1, they topped the US chart in December 1965, with their cover of Bobby Day's " Over and Over". "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" is a song by American punk rock band Ramones, released in 1977 through Sire Records. Written by front man and lead vocalist Joey Ramone it appears on the band's third studio album ''Rocket to Russia'' (1977). The song is well known for its early 1960s influence of surf rock and bubblegum pop that influenced Joey; it has since remained one of the band's most popular songs. The song first appeared in May 1977 as a single in the UK where it charted at number 22 in the UK Singles Chart. In the US, it was released as a single in July 1977, and reached number 81 in the Billboard Hot 100, and appeared on copies of the second issue of the band's 1977 album ''Leave Home'' (replacing the track "Carbona Not Glue"). Thomas Alan Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American musician, composer, songwriter, and actor. His lyrics often focus on the underbelly of society and are delivered in his trademark deep, gravelly voice. Kathleen Patricia Brennan (born 1955) is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, and artist. She is known for her work as a co-writer, producer, and influence on the work of her husband Tom Waits. Biography Brennan was born in Cork, Ireland and grew up in Johnsburg, Illinois in the US, after her family moved there when she was young. Paul Francis Webster (December 20, 1907 – March 18, 1984) was an American lyricist who won three Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and was nominated sixteen times for the award. Life and career Webster was born in New York City, United States, the son of Myron Lawrence Webster and Blanche Pauline Stonehill Webster. His family was Jewish. His father was born in Augustów, Poland. "Spider-Man" is the theme song of the 1967 cartoon show ''Spider-Man'', composed by Paul Francis Webster and Bob Harris. The original song was recorded at RCA Studios in Toronto (where the cartoon was produced) featuring 12 CBC vocalists (members of the Billy Van Singers, and Laurie Bower Singers groups) who added to the musical backing track supplied by RCA Studios, New York. The singers were paid only for the session and have had no residuals from its use since then. The song has since been adopted as Spider-Man's official theme, including in-universe. "I Wanna Be Sedated" is a song by American punk rock band Ramones, originally released on the band's fourth studio album, '' Road to Ruin'' (1978), in September 1978. "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?" is a song by American punk rock band Ramones', released as the second single and opening track from the band's fifth studio album ''End of the Century'' (1980). It was released on May 16, 1980. Produced by veteran record producer Phil Spector, the song and album marked a change in the Ramones' sound, in an increased attempt to achieve commercial success. Based on many of the 1950s rock and pop songs the band grew up listening to, the song featured more complex instrumentation and production than past songs by the band, employing the use of a piano, trumpet, horn, saxophone, and synthesizer, along with the standard guitar, drums and bass. Blitzkrieg Bop is a song by American punk rock band, Ramones, released in February 1976 as their debut single in the United States. It appeared as the opening track on the band's debut album, ''Ramones'', released two months later. The M-505 Adams Brothers Probe 16 is a car, designed by former Marcos cars designers Dennis and Peter Adams, (Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England) in 1969 as 'an investigation into extremes of styling'. It is powered by a mid-mounted tuned Austin 1800 engine and is 34 inches (86 cm) in height. It has 10" wheels on the front and 13" wheels on the back. Entry is via a sliding glass roof. Only three were ever produced. The first - AB/2, license plate MJO 145H – was sold to American songwriter Jimmy Webb. The second - AB/3, license plate PWV 222H - to Cream bassist Jack Bruce, who then gave it to co-band member of Bruce & Laing, Corky Laing as a birthday gift.
