Quéven
Quéven (; ) is a commune in the Morbihan department of Brittany in north-western France. History During World War I, Quéven lost one hundred and one of its children. 85% of the town was destroyed in World War II. In January 1945, the city of Toulouse adopted the ruined town, via its mayor Raymond Badiou. In memory of this help the main square of Quéven was renamed "Place de la ville de Toulouse" and a street in Toulouse was renamed "Rue de Quéven". The city of Queven has been honoured 25 September 1949 with Cross of War 1929-1945 by the citation 11 November 1948 of the Ministry of the Armed Force, Max Lejeune. Jean Joncourt
Jean Joncourt was a French sculptor born in Irvillac in 1869 and who died in 1937. He is well known for his work on war memorials. Biography Jean Joncourt was born in Irvillac on 31 December 1869. There is no record of his having received any academic training in sculpture and at the age of 20 he was registered as a mason. He was called up for military service and served in the 1st Regiment of Engineers from November 1890 to September 1891. In 1896 he moved to Quimperlé and married Marie Marguerite Derrien, who had been born in Clohars-Carnoët in 1872. The census of 1911 recorded Joncourt as working as a sculptor, with a daughter born in 1897, a son in 1903 and a second daughter in 1904. In 1914 he received mobilization papers and is recorded as having served in April 1915 in the 1st Battalion Territorial Engineers and then the 65th Infantry moving on to the 23rd "Escadron du Train". Dunmanway
Dunmanway (, official Irish name: ) is a market town in County Cork, in the southwest of Ireland. It is the geographical centre of the region known as West Cork. It is the birthplace of Sam Maguire, an Irish Protestant republican, for whom the trophy of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship is named. There is disagreement over the meaning and origin of the town's name. Various sources list its meaning when translated from Irish as "the castle of the yellow river," "the castle on the little plain," "the fort of the gables (or pinnacles)," and "the fort of the yellow women." The town centre is built on and around two rivers, which are tributaries of the larger River Bandon, which passes by at the east end of the town. The town is twinned with Quéven, France. Koro (''Kɔ́rɔ́'') is a town and commune and seat of the Cercle of Koro in the Mopti Region of Mali. At the 2009 Census, the commune had a population of 62,681. Jamsay Dogon is spoken in Koro. Other than Dogon people, there are also some Burkinabé living in Koro. There is a weekly Saturday market. Agriculture is the source of income in Koro.
