Quillabamba
Quillabamba is a city in southern Peru. It is the capital of La Convención Province, which is the largest province in area of the Cusco Region. It is located in an area called the high jungle. Agriculture is the most important activity, principally coffee, cacao, tea and coca. The town is a mixture of Andean and Amazonian migrants. The Urubamba River flows by the town from the south. It is a source of gold and rare-earth minerals. La Convención Province
La Convención Province is the largest of thirteen provinces in the Cusco Region in the southern highlands of Peru. As part of the higher-altitude Amazon basin at the foot of the Andes, La Convención is one of three Peruvian provinces that prominently figure in national coffee production, the other being Chanchamayo province in Junín state and Jaén province in Cajamarca state. Geography The La Convención Province is bounded to the north by the Junín Region and the Ucayali Region, to the east by the Madre de Dios Region, to the south by the Anta Province, the Calca Province and the Urubamba Province, and to the west by the Ayacucho Region and the Apurímac Region. Raul Geller
Dr. Raul Geller (ראול גלר; born January 23, 1936) is a Peruvian-Israeli former professional footballer, who played as a forward, and an orthopedic surgeon. In Peru he played for Deportivo Municipal, Porvenir Miraflores, and the Peru national football team. In Israel, he is the third -leading scorer of all time of Beitar Jerusalem. His 0.64 goals per game ranks first. He also competed in soccer in the 1969 Maccabiah Games. In 2013, Geller was ranked #161 in the world in 75+ tennis by the International Tennis Federation. Early life Geller was born in Quillabamba, Peru. His father Marcus (Mordechai) played football in Poland, and fled it before the Holocaust to Peru. A rare-earth mineral contains one or more rare-earth elements as major metal constituents. Urubamba River
The Urubamba River or Vilcamayo River (possibly from Quechua ''Willkamayu'', for "sacred river") is a river in Peru. Upstream it is called Vilcanota River (possibly from Aymara ''Willkanuta'', for "house of the sun"). Within the La Convención Province the naming changes to Urubamba. A partially navigable headwater of the Amazon River, it rises in the Andes to the southeast of Cuzco. It originates on the slopes of Khunurana in the Puno Region, Melgar Province, near the La Raya pass. It flows north-north-west for 724 kilometers before coalescing with the Tambo River to form the Ucayali River. Coca
Coca is any of the four cultivated plants in the family Erythroxylaceae, native to western South America. Coca is known worldwide for its psychoactive alkaloid, cocaine. The plant is grown as a cash crop in the Argentine Northwest, Bolivia, Alto Rio Negro Territory in Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, even in areas where its cultivation is unlawful.
