Queen Elizabeth Theatre (Toronto)
Queen Elizabeth Theatre is an auditorium on the grounds of Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It opened in 1956 and was renovated circa 2010, now seating approximately 1,250 for concerts and other stage events. The building also houses the Fountainblu Banquet Centre, with 5,500 square feet of indoor meeting space. Box offices for events are located at the entrance of the building. The theatre is situated in the Queen Elizabeth Building, which also houses administration offices and an exhibition hall. One music reviewer describes the theatre in these terms: "From a listening standpoint, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre boasts near-perfect sound, but its stateliness makes it better suited to a lecture or a play than a rock show." Peter Dickinson (architect)
Peter Allgood Rastall Dickinson (21 October 1925 – 15 October 1961) was a British-Canadian architect. Practising from the late 1940s to the early 1960s and working primarily in Toronto, Dickinson is credited as one of the leaders in developing the Mid-Century Modern style in Canada during the post-World War II period. Biography Peter Dickinson was born on 21 October 1925 in Walberswick. His father, Eric, was a partner in the brokerage firm Dickinson and Sidebottom. Peter Dickinson grew up in a home on Grove End Road in St. John's Wood, and attended Westminster School from 1938 to 1941. Mod Club Theatre
The Mod Club Theatre (commonly called Mod Club) was an entertainment venue in Toronto that operated from 2002 to 2020. Its address was 722 College Street, which is in the city's Little Italy neighbourhood. Founded by Platinum Blonde frontman Mark Holmes and fellow English- expat Bobbi Guy, the venue hosted live performances and DJ nights. Overview Mod Club Theatre had a 618 person capacity and a stage that was 24 feet wide x 18 feet deep. Its interior was accented with murals featuring images of 1960s mod subculture.
