Quartiere Gammarana (Teramo)
Gammarana is a neighborhood in the city of Teramo in Italy's Abruzzo region. It is located near the local railway station. In the 1960s a number of apartment buildings were constructed in the area and in doing its character changed in nature from industrial to residential. History Up until World War II Gammarana hosted a small airport. During the war many small military aircraft used the airport to ferry supplies and war materials in and out of Teramo. One street, Via dell'aeroporto (Airport Road), still bears the name of this transportation link. The airport has long been razed to make way for the residential building boom which followed the Allied victories. In the late 1950s and early 1960s several medium industrial enterprises were established in Gammarana. Teramo
Teramo (; nap, label= Abruzzese, Tèreme ) is a city and ''comune'' in the Italian region of Abruzzo, the capital of the province of Teramo. The city, from Rome, is situated between the highest mountains of the Apennines (Gran Sasso d'Italia) and the Adriatic coast. The town is located by the confluence of the Vezzola and Tordino rivers, on a hillside area where the terrain features along with the Mediterranean climate make the territory rich in vineyards and olive groves. Five-a-side Football
Five-a-side football is a version of minifootball, in which each team fields five players (four outfield players and a goalkeeper). Other differences from football include a smaller pitch, smaller goals, and a reduced game duration. Matches are played indoors, or outdoors on artificial grass pitches that may be enclosed within a barrier or "cage" to prevent the ball from leaving the playing area and keep the game constantly flowing. Cona (Teramo)
Cona is a quarter of Teramo, central Italy. It takes its name from the presence of the local church, ''Madonna della Cona''. The Madonna della Cona is a religious symbol of abundance and fertility with a festival the first Sunday in September that is celebrated in her honor. Overview Also located in this area is the important Italian Strada Statale 80 (State Highway 80), or SS80, which begins to the east in Giulianova and passes in a westerly direction to the city of L'Aquila. Piano Della Lenta
Piano della Lenta is a neighborhood of Teramo, Italy. Piano della Lenta extends to the north of the city center along the State Highway 80 (SS 80), the main road to Ascoli Piceno. It is located about three kilometers from the Teramo city center and has the characteristic of being a mere extension of the city itself. It is located roughly a kilometre away, however from the town of Puntignano. Overview The area's name, "Piano della Lenta" (Plain of Leisure) probably derives from a number of inns and wineries which once dotted the landscape.
