The Qatar World Rally Team is a Qatari World Rally Championship team, based in Cumbria, United Kingdom. History They made their debut at the 2012 Rally of Sweden, entering a single Citroën DS3 WRC for Nasser Al-Attiyah and co-driver Giovanni Bernacchini. Al-Attiyah was unable to contest the full season, owing to his qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the car was variously driven by Chris Atkinson in Finland, Thierry Neuville in New Zealand and Italy, and Hans Weijs, Jr. in Spain. Cumbria
Cumbria ( ) is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in North West England, bordering Scotland. World Rally Championship
The World Rally Championship (abbreviated as WRC) is the highest level of global competition in the motorsport discipline of rallying, owned and governed by the FIA. There are separate championships for drivers, co-drivers, manufacturers and teams. The series currently consists of 13 three to four-day rally events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is usually split into 15–25 special stages which are run against the clock on up to 350 kilometres of closed roads. The M-Sport Ford World Rally Team (formerly M-Sport World Rally Team, Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team and Stobart M-Sport Ford Rally Team) is the privately run World Rally Championship team of M-Sport, the firm run by Malcolm Wilson (rally driver), Malcolm Wilson that was previously responsible for the operation of the former Ford World Rally Team. The 2013 World Rally Championship was the 41st season of the World Rally Championship, an auto racing championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile as the highest class of international rallying. M-Sport is an auto racing team and motorsport engineering company headquartered at Dovenby Hall near Cockermouth, Cumbria, England, United Kingdom. The 48º Rally RACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada, alternatively RACC Rally de España, was the thirteenth and the final round of the 2012 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 9–11 November, and was based in Salou, Catalonia. Hans Weijs Jr. (born 19 December 1986) is a Dutch rally driver. He has won two rounds of the Junior World Rally Championship, finishing runner-up in the standings in 2010. His father, Hans Weijs, Sr., is also a rally driver and runs his own garage in Elst. Career In 2004 Weijs entered for a selection day of KNAF Talent First, a program run by the Dutch national motorsport federation to find and support new young talent, which he won. He made his debut in the World Rally Championship in 2006, on Rallye Deutschland, in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII, finishing in 39th position. Chris Atkinson (born 30 November 1979 in Bega, New South Wales, Australia) is a professional rally driver. In the World Rally Championship (WRC), Atkinson drove for the Subaru World Rally Team between 2004 and 2008. His best finish on an individual WRC event is second, which he achieved at the 2008 Rally México and Rally Argentina. Other podium placings include third-place finishes at the 2005 Rally Japan and the 2008 Monte Carlo Rally. Atkinson drives for Team MRF, and competed in the 2012 Asia-Pacific Rally Championship and made a guest appearance in the World Rally Championship.
