Qāriʾ
A Qari (, ar, قَارِئ, plural ''qāriʾūn'', ''qurrāʾ'' or ''qaraʾah'') is a person who recites the Quran with the proper rules of recitation (''tajwid''). Although it is encouraged, a qāriʾ does not necessarily have to memorize the Quran, just to recite it according to the rules of tajwid with melodious sound. Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary
Mahmoud Khalil al-Hussary ( ar, ٱلشِـيـْخ محمُود خَلِيـْل الْحُصـري), also known as ''Al-Hussary'', was an Egyptian Qari widely acclaimed for his accurate recitation of the Qur'an. Al-Hussary committed the entire Qur'an to memory by age 8 and started reciting at public gatherings by age 12. In 1944, Al-Hussary won Egypt Radio's ''Qu'ran Recitation'' competition which had around 200 participants, including veterans like Muhammad Rifat. The quadrumvirate of El Minshawy, Abdul Basit, Mustafa Ismail, and Al-Hussary are generally considered the most important and famous Qurra' of modern times to have had an outsized impact on the Islamic world. Maria Ulfah ( ar, ماريا أولفا; born 21 December 1955) is an Indonesian qāriʾah (reciter of the Quran) and manager of the Central Institute for the Development of Quranic Recitation. She is the winner of two Indonesian national Qur'an recitation contests and is internationally recognized as one of the world's master reciters and teachers of recitation.Kathryn M. Mishari bin Rashed Alafasy ( ar, مشاري بن راشد العفاسي) is a Kuwaiti ''qāriʾ'' (reciter of the Quran), imam, preacher, and nasheed artist. He studied in the Islamic University of Madinah's College of Qur'an, specializing in the ten qira'at and tafsir. Alafasy has released nasheed albums. He sings in Arabic, English, and French with only his voice, without any accompanying musical instruments. Saud Al-Shuraim
Saud ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Shuraim (Arabic: سعود بن ابراهيم بن محمد الشريم; born 19 January 1964), is one of the prayer leaders and Friday preachers at the Grand Mosque Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. A Quranic reciter, he also holds a Ph.D degree in Sharia (Islamic studies) at the Umm al-Qura University in Mecca. Shuraim was recently appointed as dean and "Specialist Professor in Fiqh" at the University. Shuraim leads the Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan in Mecca since 1991. He also led the funeral prayer for Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz on 17 June 2012 after Maghrib (sunset) prayer in Masjid Al Haram. Qari Shakir Qasmi (Urdu: قارى شاكر قاسمى), was a Pakistani Qāriʾ (a reciter of the Quran) known for his work on Radio Pakistan.
