Qwabe KaMalandela
The Qwabe Kingdom ( zu, amaQwabe) is the senior branch of the House of Malandela, the royal pre-Zulu family, descendant from Qwabe (1575) the son of Malandela or Mayandeya. Origins The amaQwabe are the senior and larger clan of the Makhanya and the Zulu clans all descending from one common ancestor, Malandela. They are descendant from Qwabe (whose name means a Large 'musical bow') the eldest son of Malandela and his wife Nozidiya/Nozinja of the Zungu clan. Following the death of Malandela, Qwabe became the king. In accordance with Nguni customary practices when Qwabe inherited the kingship, he went and built a new homestead to serve as the center of the kingdom, leaving his younger brother Zulu to rule over a few people who remained at their father Malandela's estate. The kingdom thrived sometime in the 18th century as "one of the most ancient and famous tribes in Natal and Zululand". Ndwandwe
The Ndwandwe are a Bantu Nguni-speaking people who populate sections of southern Africa. The Ndwandwe, with the Mthethwa, were a significant power in present-day Zululand at the turn of the nineteenth century. Under the leadership of King Zwide, the Ndwandwe nation destroyed the Mthethwa under their king Dingiswayo, and the power vacuum was filled by Shaka Zulu and the Zulu tribe. In a common front against the Ndwandwe, Shaka collected the remains of the Mthethwa and other regional tribes, and survived the first encounter of the Zulu Civil War with Zwide at the Battle of Gqokli Hill in 1818. In 1819, Nkambule made another expedition against the Zulus, but Shaka again changed his tactics, letting the Ndwandwe army penetrate his territory and responding with guerrilla warfare. Shortage of supplies caused the Ndandwe to return home, but when they were crossing the river Mhlatuze in early 1820, their forces were split and defeated at the Battle of Mhlatuze River. Mgobhozi
Phumlani Mgobhozi (born 15 August 1978) is a ''Maskanda'' artist from Umkomaas, South Africa. He started his professional career as a Gospel singer in 2001. He released five gospel albums between 2002 and 2011, before being encouraged to try his hand at ''Maskandi''. This debut Album in ''Maskanda'' entitled Is'qomaqomane, was released in January 2014. He released his first music video for this song in May 2014. The music video was shot at Mahlongwa near Umkomaas on the KwaNatal south coast, the area of his birth.
