Qunnerit
Ikeq is an island of the Kujalleq municipality, southern Greenland. Geography The island has an area of 198.9 km ² and a shoreline of 89.4 kilometres. Its coast is deeply indented and its eastern part (Qunnerit) is almost separated from the main island by a narrow inlet stretching from north to south. Along with Itilleq, Sammisoq, Nunarsuaq (Nunarssuak), Pamialluk, Annikitsoq, Walkendorff and Qernertoq (Kasit), it is part of the Cape Farewell Archipelago (Nunap Isua). Cape Farewell Archipelago
Cape Farewell Archipelago (also Nunap Isua Archipelago) is an island group located at the southern end of Greenland in Kujalleq municipality. The archipelago takes its name from Cape Farewell, a headland of Egger Island (also known as Itilleq). Geography The Cape Farewell Archipelago is separated from the mainland's south coast by Prince Christian Sound in the north and by the Torsukattak Fjord in the west. The main islands of the group are characterized as large and mountainous, surrounded by fjord-like passages. There are also several islets and rocks. Islands Sammisoq (Christian IV Island) is the largest island of the archipelago. Other significant islands include Egger Island (Itilleq), the southernmost of the group, Nunarsuaq (Nunarssuak), Pamialluk, Annikitsoq, Qunnerit, Ikeq, Walkendorff and Qernertoq (Kasit), as well as the Avallersuaq and Saningassoq islets. Egger Island
Egger Island ( da, Eggers Ø; kl, Itilleq, old spelling: ''Itivdleq'') is Greenland's southernmost island. It is located in the Kujalleq municipality and is uninhabited. Geography Egger Island is an important landmark for a small islet off Cape Farewell, its southern headland, is the southernmost point of Greenland. It is part of the Cape Farewell Archipelago (Nunap Isua). The island has a deeply indented coastline and is separated from the neighbouring islands of the archipelago by narrow sounds. Qunnerit lies to the west, Sammisoq to the north and the smaller Avatdlerssuaq and Saningassoq to the east. Egger Island has an area of 308.8 km2 and a shoreline of 150.2 kilometres. Labrador Sea
The Labrador Sea (French: ''mer du Labrador'', Danish: ''Labradorhavet'') is an arm of the North Atlantic Ocean between the Labrador Peninsula and Greenland. The sea is flanked by continental shelf, continental shelves to the southwest, northwest, and northeast. It connects to the north with Baffin Bay through the Davis Strait. It is a marginal sea of the Atlantic. The sea formed upon separation of the North American Plate and Greenland Plate that started about 60 million years ago and stopped about 40 million years ago. Nunap Isua
Cape Farewell ( kl, Nunap Isua; da, Kap Farvel) is a headland on the southern shore of Egger Island, Nunap Isua Archipelago, Greenland. As the southernmost point of the country, it is one of the important landmarks of Greenland. Kujalleq ( Greenlandic: , da, Den Syden, lit=The South) is a municipality on the southern tip of Greenland, operational from 1 January 2009. The administrative center of the municipality is in Qaqortoq (formerly called Julianehåb). Sammisoq (old spelling ''Sangmissoq'', da, Christian IV Ø; English traditional:''Christian IV Island'') is an island in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland, located northeast of Uummannarsuaq cape. It is the largest island of the Cape Farewell Archipelago (Nunap Isua). Geography Its area is and at its largest length is . It is separated from mainland Greenland to the north by the narrow Prince Christian Sound. The island has glaciers in the south and in the west. Its coast is deeply indented and its southern part is almost separated from the main island by two narrow inlets. Walkendorff Island
Valkendorf (Denmark) or Walkendorff (Sweden) is a Danish and Swedish medieval noble family, which can be traced back to the 14th century with the arrival in Denmark of knight Heinrich (Henning) Valkendorf. The most prominent member of the Danish family was Christoffer Valkendorf, who served as Steward of the Realm during the early reign of Christian IV. Members of the family were major landowners on the island of Funen where they owned Glorup Manor for almost two hundred years. The Danish branch was extinct in 1747.
