Quisqueya Henríquez
Quisqueya Henríquez (1966 – 30 March 2024) was a Cuban-born Dominican multidisciplinary contemporary artist. She worked in the mediums of sculpture, photography, sound art, installation art, video art, and collage. Henríquez's work has been included in many international exhibitions and biennials. Biography Quisqueya Henríquez was born in 1966 in Havana, Cuba, and lived in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from the time when she was a child. She studied at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (Autonomous University of Santo Domingo; UASD); and studied from 1987 to 1992 at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana. Henríquez emerged as an avant-garde in the late-1980s. Henríquez's work addresses issues such as conventions of race, ethnicity, and gender encountered in Caribbean and Latin cultures. Carlos Garaicoa
Carlos Garaicoa (born 1967) is a Cuban contemporary artist, specializing in photography and installations. Garaicoa became a prominent Cuban artist in the nineteen-nineties after a massive exodus of artists who had played a decisive role in the Cuban art movement of the nineteen-eighties. Alexandre Arrechea (born 1970) is a Cuban visual artist. His work involves concepts of power and its network of hierarchies, surveillance, control, prohibitions, and subjection. For twelve years he was a member of the art collective Los Carpinteros, until he left the group in July 2003 to continue his career as a solo artist. Storm Saulter (born September 21, 1983) is a Jamaican filmmaker and photographer. He wrote and directed the 2010 film ''Better Mus' Come'' and directed the 2018 film ''Sprinter''. Marta María Pérez Bravo (born 1959) is a Cuban artist who is best known for her black-and-white self-portraiture, in which she often uses her own body as the central subject-object to express her own belief in - and practice of - Afro-Cuban religions, particularly Santeria and Palo Monte. Hew Donald Joseph Locke (born 13 October 1959) is a British sculptor and contemporary visual artist based in Brixton, London. In 2000 he won a Paul Hamlyn Award and the EASTinternational Award.
