Qui Rido Io
''The King of Laughter'' ( it, Qui rido io, lit= Here I laugh) is a 2021 Italian-Spanish biographical drama film directed by Mario Martone about actor and playwright Eduardo Scarpetta's legal battle against Gabriele D'Annunzio over his parody of the latter's '' The Daughter of Iorio'' (1904). Toni Servillo stars as Scarpetta. The film was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. Mario Martone (born 20 November 1959) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. He has directed more than 30 films since 1985. His film '' L'amore molesto'' was entered into the 1995 Cannes Film Festival. His 2010 film ''Noi credevamo'' competed for the Golden Lion at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. He was also the stage director for Lorenzo Ferrero's opera '' Charlotte Corday'', which was premiered at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma on 21 February 1989. Salvatore Di Giacomo
Salvatore Di Giacomo (12 March 1860 – 5 April 1934) was an Italian poet, songwriter, playwright and fascist, one of the signatories to the Manifesto of the Fascist Intellectuals. Di Giacomo is credited as being one of those responsible for renewing Neapolitan language poetry at the beginning of the 20th century. The language of Salvatore Di Giacomo is, however, not the everyday Neapolitan language of his contemporaries; it has a distinct 18th-century flavour to it, with archaisms that recall the golden age of Neapolitan culture. This was the period between 1750 and 1800, when Neapolitan was the language of the best-loved form of musical entertainment in Italy, the Neapolitan comic opera. Gennaro Pantalena (1848–1915) was an Italian actor-manager and playwright. He developed a reputation as a character actor in Neapolitan theatre, appearing in the companies of Eduardo Scarpetta and Federico Stella. By 1888 he led his own company which took up residence in the city's Teatro Nuovo.
