Queens Of Noize
Queens of Noize were a DJ duo based in London, consisting of Mairead Nash and Tabitha Denholm. During their time as a duo they presented for MTV2 and BBC 6 Music and performed at a number of international festivals. Career Their career began in 2002 with their club night at Club 333 in Shoreditch, which subsequently moved to the Camden Barfly. They performed internationally at clubs and festivals including the Carling Weekend, Roskilde Festival and Festival Internacional de Benicà ssim, and presented their own show on MTV2. They also released a single, "Indie Boys (Don't Deserve It)", to little critical or commercial success. They started presenting a radio show in September 2006 on BBC 6 Music, called ''Queens of Noize Sonic Safari''. MTV2
MTV2 (formerly M2) is an American pay television Cable television, channel owned by the Paramount Media Networks division of Paramount Global. The channel launched initially as an all-music video service, once the original MTV had started to shift its programming. As with its parent network, MTV2's focus on music programming would gradually be downplayed during the 2000s. By 2011, MTV2 would primarily target young adult men with original and acquired lifestyle and reality programming, reruns of male-targeting shows from MTV, acquired sitcoms and movies, and a daily block of Hip hop music, hip hop and Rock music, rock genre videos in the early mornings. Tabitha Denholm
Tabitha Denholm (born 14 January 1975) is a British director of music videos, documentary shorts and commercials. Denholm was a member of DJ duo Queens of Noize and later became art director for Florence and the Machine. Her work has been nominated for MTV Video Music Awards. She currently lives in Los Angeles. Life and career At age 14, Denholm signed with Storm Model Management. As a model, she appeared in videos by Pulp and Ace of Base. Denholm later got a degree in cultural studies from the University of North London. After meeting DJ Mairead Nash at a party, Denholm formed the DJ duo Queens of Noize and, with Nash, presented on MTV2 and BBC 6 Music and worked with The Libertines. Shoreditch is a district in the East End of London in England, and forms the southern part of the London Borough of Hackney. Barfly (club)
The Barfly was a chain of live music venues in the United Kingdom originally started by Nick Moore, Jeremy Ledlin and Be Rozzo on Valentine's Day 1997. Club nights and events tended to feature rock, alternative and independent music. The flagship venue was based in Camden Town, London, England. The premises are still used as a live music venue, which has a capacity of 200. Camden venue Prior to 2000, the flagship Camden venue had been known as The Monarch, a pub which had hosted live music gigs since the 1980s. During the 1990s it became a regular venue for Britpop bands. Carling Weekend
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. Roskilde Festival
The Roskilde Festival is a Danish music festival held annually south of Roskilde. It is one of the largest music festivals in Europe and the largest in the Nordic countries. It was created in 1971 by two high school students and a promoter. In 1972, the festival was taken over by the Roskilde Foundation, which has since run the festival as a non-profit organization for development and support of music, culture and humanism. The Festival Internacional de Benicà ssim (), commonly abbreviated to simply FIB, is an annual music festival that takes place in the town of Benicà ssim, in the Valencian Community, Spain. It focuses mainly on pop, rock and electronica artists, as well as short films, fashion shows and art. FIB has a reputation of being among the best on the international festival circuit. The festival begins on the second Tuesday of July, when the camping grounds open, although music officially commences Thursday afternoon. Lauren Cecilia Fisher (née Gofton; born 28 April 1978), known professionally as Lauren Laverne, is an English radio DJ, model, television presenter, author and singer. She was the lead singer and additional guitarist in the alternative rock band Kenickie. The group's album '' At The Club'' reached the top 10, although her greatest chart success came when she performed vocals on Mint Royale's single "Don't Falter".
