Queen Elizabeth Planetarium
The Queen Elizabeth Planetarium or Queen Planetarium is a planetarium located within Coronation Park, in Edmonton, Alberta. It was the first public planetarium in Canada, operating between 1960 and 1983 and again from 2023 onward. Designed by Walter Tefler and R.F. Duke, it was named to commemorate the visit of Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, in 1959. The Planetarium is now operated by the Edmonton Space Sciences Foundation. Bruderheim is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada. It is located just north of the junction of Highway 15 and Highway 45, approximately northeast of Edmonton. Strasenburgh Planetarium
The Strasenburgh Planetarium is a public planetarium located at 663 East Avenue in the city of Rochester, New York. It is named after its benefactors, Edwin and Clara Strasenburgh. It is a department of the Rochester Museum and Science Center. The Planetarium was dedicated on September 14, 1968. The 65-foot-diameter Star Theater originally seated 240 people. The original seats were replaced in 1985; as currently configured, the theater seats 225. The Star Theater houses the first Zeiss Mark VI planetarium projector; it is still in daily operation. The International Planetarium Society, Inc. (IPS) is the global association of planetarium professionals. Its more than 600 members come from 42 countries around the world. They represent schools, colleges and universities, museums, and public facilities of all sizes, including both fixed and portable planetariums. Heritage Buildings In Edmonton
Heritage buildings in Edmonton, as elsewhere in Canada, may be designated by any of the three levels of government: the Government of Canada (federal government), the Government of Alberta (provincial government), or the City of Edmonton (municipal government). Federal sites there are currently ten sites in Edmonton with plaques erected by Parks Canada and listed in the Directory of Designations of National Historic Significance of Canada, and one recommendation to create a new plaque in Edmonton.
