Quarashi
Quarashi is an Icelandic rap rock band from ReykjavÃk, Iceland. The group consists of rappers Hössi Ólafsson (later replaced by Egill Olafur Thorarensen), Ómar Örn Hauksson, Steinar Orri Fjeldsted, and Sölvi Blöndal (who also acted as producer, keyboardist, percussionist, drummer and songwriter). For live shows, Quarashi was joined by guitarist Smári "Tarfur" Jósepsson, bassist Gaukur Úlfarsson, and DJ Dice (later replaced by DJ Magic). The group came back together in 2016 and is planning on releasing a new album. The group released five studio albums from 1996 to 2005. Jinx (Quarashi Album)
''Jinx'' is the fourth album by Quarashi, and is the only album the group released on a major record label. It was released on 9 April 2002. It was their first album to receive an international release, being released not only in Iceland, but also in the United States, Australia, Japan, and the rest of Europe. As such, ''Jinx'' is Quarashi's best known album. History After hearing Quarashi's last album, '' Xeneizes'', EMI Music Resources contacted Quarashi to perform at the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival hosted by EMI in conjunction with Flugleiðir in New York City in the fall of 1999. Hössi Ólafsson
Hössi Ólafsson (born Höskuldur Ólafsson; 1977 in ReykjavÃk, Iceland) is a singer, rapper, producer, writer, and actor. He is best known as a founding member of the Icelandic rap group, Quarashi. Professional career Hössi first met future Quarashi member Sölvi Blöndal at the University of Iceland in the early '90s. According to Blöndal, the first thing Hössi ever said to him was if he had any marijuana to sell. Sölvi and Hössi would go on to play in the punk rock band, 2001. However, Sölvi soon began to develop a preference for studio production over band rehearsal-style songwriting. He also wanted to make different types of music besides industrial rock and punk, so he quit 2001 and began making rap music. Gaukur Úlfarsson (born ) is an Icelandic film maker and film director. Gaukur began his career directing advertisements and music videos. In the 2003 Edda Awards, he won the Music Video of the Year (''Tónlistarmyndband ársins'') for ''Mess It Up'' by Quarashi. Gaukur directed and wrote the TV Series ''Sjáumst með SilvÃu Nótt'' from 2005 with the alter-ego talk show host SilvÃa Night. Gaukur also directed the series ''Djók à ReykjavÃk'' from 2018 with Dóri DNA. Time Bomb Recordings was a Laguna Beach, California-based independent record label, founded in 1995 by artist manager Jim Guerinot in a joint-venture agreement with Arista Records. In the following five years, the artist roster grew to encompass a variety of musical genres (punk, indie, rock-a-billy); generally falling under the label "alternative rock".
