Qiu Shihua
Qiu Shihua (; born 1940) is a Chinese landscape painter. He lives and works in Beijing and Shenzhen. Life and work Qiu Shihua was born in 1940 in Zizhong, Sichuan, China, and lives and works in Beijing and Shenzhen. He visited France in the 1980s and studied the works of the Impressionists. His works have been exhibited in shows including the 48th Venice Biennale, the 23rd São Paulo Art Biennial, the Kunsthalle Basel and the Exhibition "Mahjong - Chinesische Gegenwartskunst aus der Sammlung Sigg" which has been shown in Europe and the U.S.A. The São Paulo Art Biennial (Portuguese: ''Bienal de São Paulo'') was founded in 1951 and has been held every two years since. It is the second oldest art biennial in the world after the Venice Biennale (in existence since 1895), which serves as its role model. Malkasten (English: "Paintbox") is a progressive German artists' association, founded in Düsseldorf in 1848, during the March Revolution. Since 1867, their headquarters have been in the Pempelfort district. History During the unrest in 1848, artists also began to take part in political discussions. Jeong-hee Lee-Kalisch (born 1955) is a South Korean art historian specialising in Chinese painting and archaeology, Korean art, Buddhist art and East Asian ceramics. From 2003 to 2021 she was the Professor of East Asian Art History in the Art History Institute (Department of History and Culture) at the Free University Berlin.
