Qin River (Shanxi)
The Qin River () is a tributary of the Yellow River in southeast Shanxi, China. It rises in Qinyuan County, Shanxi, and joins the Yellow River in Wuzhi County, Henan. The river is long and has a catchment area of .''Cihai'', Shanghai Cishu Chubanshe, Shanghai 2002, , S.1350. Its largest tributary is the Dan River (丹河), which flows through the Gaoping city center. Shanxi
Shanxi (; ; formerly romanised as Shansi) is a landlocked province of the People's Republic of China and is part of the North China region. The capital and largest city of the province is Taiyuan, while its next most populated prefecture-level cities are Changzhi and Datong. Its one-character abbreviation is "" (), after the state of Jin that existed there during the Spring and Autumn period. The name ''Shanxi'' means "West of the Mountains", a reference to the province's location west of the Taihang Mountains. Gaoping
Gaoping () is a county-level city in the southeast of Shanxi Province, China, under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Jincheng. It has a history stretching back to the Warring States period (403–221 BCE). Part of the city was formerly known as Changping where a noted battle took place in 260 BCE between forces from the rival States of Qin and Zhao.
