The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics ( es, Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud de 2018), officially known as the III Summer Youth Olympic Games, and commonly known as Buenos Aires 2018, were an international sports, cultural, and educational event held from 6 to 18 October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They were the first Youth Olympic Games held outside of Eurasia, and the first Summer Games held outside of Asia and the first to be held in the Western and Southern hemispheres. Equestrian at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 8 to 13 October 2018 at the Argentine Equestrian Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could enter a maximum of 1 athlete. Athletes qualified into one of six zones (Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australasia and Africa) containing five athletes. As hosts, Argentina was automatically given a rider and up to 6 spots were available to the Tripartite Commission, though not all were used; this caused a reduction from the zone quota depending which zone the chosen athlete is from. The remaining places were decided from qualification events or the 2017 FEI World Jumping Challenge (Category A) rankings.
