Páidí Ó Lionáird
Páidí Ó Lionáird (born 17 August 1968) is an Irish television presenter and columnist from Cúil Aodha, County Cork. Since 1997, Ó Lionáird has been the presenter of current affairs and entertainment shows on the Irish language channel TG4. His older brother is Iarla Ó Lionáird, a singer and producer. His other brothers include Seán, judge on TG4's ''Feirm Factor'', and Peadar, co-owner of Folláin, which is a jam and chutney manufacturer. Early life Páidí Ó Lionáird was born in Gort na Scairte, Baile Bhúirne in the Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area of County Cork) Cúil Aodha, part of the Muskerry Gaeltacht in County Cork. Cúil Aodha
Cúil Aodha (), anglicised as Coolea, is a townland and village in the Gaeltacht region of Muskerry in County Cork, Ireland. The area is near the source of the River Sullane in the Derrynasaggart Mountains. Geography Cúil Aodha townland is in the civil parish of Ballyvourney, and is an official Gaeltacht area, where the Irish language is used alongside English. The village of Cúil Aodha is close to a number of wind farms which are located on the mountains which mark the border between County Cork and County Kerry. The area is mountainous and is led to by mainly narrow roadways. Cúil Aodha lies within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency. According to the 2016 census, of the 216 people living in Cúil Aodha and the small area surrounding it, 86% were able to speak Irish. In the Gort na Tiobratan electoral division, in which the village is located, 45% of that population (353 people) stated that they speak Irish on a daily basis outside the education system. 2011 Irish Presidential Election
The 2011 Irish presidential election was the thirteenth presidential election to be held in Ireland, and was contested by a record seven candidates. It was held on Thursday, 27 October 2011. The election was held to elect a successor to Mary McAleese, with the winner to be inaugurated as the ninth President of Ireland on 11 November 2011. Two constitutional referendums and a by-election for a vacant Dáil seat in the Dublin West constituency took place on the same day. The seven candidates were Mary Davis, Seán Gallagher, Michael D. Higgins, Martin McGuinness, Gay Mitchell, David Norris and Dana Rosemary Scallon. Higgins was nominated by Labour, McGuinness by Sinn Féin and Mitchell by Fine Gael, while Independent candidates Davis, Gallagher, Norris and Scallon were nominated by local authorities.
