Purathur
Purathur is a beautiful sandy coastal village and a Grama Panchayat in Tirur Taluk, Malappuram district in the state of Kerala, India. Bharathappuzha river and Tirur River merges together in Purathur and join with the Arabian Sea at ''Padinjarekara Azhimukham'', which is also the southernmost tip of Purathur Gram panchayat. Opposite to ''Padinjarekara Azhimukham'' is Ponnani port. The village is located at the southernmost tip of Tirur Taluk and is bordered by historically important Ponnani port in Ponnani Municipality of Ponnani taluk to south (Opposite to ''Padinjarekara Azhimukham''). Bharathappuzha
Bharathappuzha ("River of Bhārata"), also known as the Nila or Ponnani River, is a river in India in the state of Kerala. With a length of 209 km, it is the second longest river that flows through Kerala after the Periyar. It flows through Palakkad Gap, which is also the largest opening in the Kerala portion of Western Ghats. Nila has groomed the culture and life of South Malabar part of Kerala. Mangalam is a coastal village in Tirur Taluk, Malappuram district, Kerala, India. The village is located south-west to the town of Tirur, away from Ponnani, and south to Tanur, Malappuram, Tanur. Ponnani () is a municipality in Ponnani Taluk, Malappuram District, in the state of Kerala, India. It serves as the administrative center of the Taluk and Block Panchayat of the same name. Tirur Taluk
Tirur Taluk comes under Tirur revenue division in Malappuram district of Kerala, India. Its headquarters is the town of Tirur. Tirur Taluk contains four municipalities - Tanur, Tirur, Kottakkal, and Valanchery. Most of the administrative offices are located in the Mini-Civil Stations at Tirur, Kuttippuram, and Tanur. Most of the villages in present-day Tirur Taluk were parts of the medieval Kingdom of Tanur (''Vettathunadu''). The port of Tanur was an important port town in the southwestern coast of India during medieval period. Chamravattom Regulator-cum-Bridge
The Chamravattam Regulator-cum-Bridge, also known as Chamravattam Palam or Chamravattam Bridge, Chamravattam RcB, or Chamravattam Project, is built across Bharathapuzha aka Nila near Chamravattam, Triprangode, in Malappuram district. This seems to be the largest of its type in Kerala, India. The bridge has length and width. It connects Ponnani and Tirur. Regulator cum bridge is now just working as a bridge due to faulty design as per the conclusion in the detailed technical investigation report done by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi on the directions of the Government of Kerala. Mangrove
A mangrove is a shrub or tree that grows in coastal saline water, saline or brackish water. The term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of such species. Mangroves are taxonomically diverse, as a result of convergent evolution in several plant families. They occur worldwide in the tropics and subtropics and even some temperate coastal areas, mainly between latitudes 30° N and 30° S, with the greatest mangrove area within 5° of the equator.
