Pune Monorail
Pune Monorail was a proposed monorail system for the city of Pune. Background The Pune Municipal Corporation decided to construct a monorail system to reduce the number of private vehicles along the route. The monorail will be taken up by the Pune Municipal Corporation. Network There are 2 lines proposed to be built: Ring Road line The first monorail line will run along the proposed High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) project. Monorail
A monorail (from "mono", meaning "one", and "rail") is a railway in which the track consists of a single rail or a beam. Colloquially, the term "monorail" is often used to describe any form of elevated rail or people mover. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC, IAST: Puṇe Mahānagarpālikā) is the civic body that governs the inner limits of Pune, India. It is in charge of the civic needs and infrastructure of the metropolis, which is spread over an area of 484.61 sq. km. and has 3.4 million residents. Established on 15 February 1950, the executive power of the PMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. Warje
Warje is a suburb of Pune, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Warje used to be one of the Octroi checkpoints. At the Warje junction, commonly referred to as the Warje Chowk, one road leads to Deccan Gymkhana, via Karve Road, and the other to Khadakwasla dam, one source of Pune's drinking water, and the National Defense Academy (India), one of India's premier military training institutes. Kharadi is a suburb located in the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor of Pune, India, on the banks of the Mula-Mutha river that serves as a hub for information technology and business parks. Pune Metro is a mass rapid transit system serving the city of Pune, India. The system comprises 3 lines with a combined length of 54.58 km, of which 12 km on two lines are operational as of March 2022. The 16.59-km Purple line from PCMC Bhavan to Swargate runs on an elevated viaduct between PCMC Bhavan to Range Hills, from where it goes underground. The Aqua line runs from Vanaz to Ramwadi covering a distance of 14.66 km on an elevated viaduct. The 23.33-km elevated Line 3 will run from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi via Balewadi to Civil Court. All three lines will align at the Civil Court interchange station.
