Pulau Tikus is a state constituency in Penang, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Penang State Legislative Assembly since 2004. It covers two of George Town's affluent suburbs - Pulau Tikus and parts of Tanjung Tokong - as well as Gurney Drive. 2008 Penang State Election
The 12th Penang election was held on 8 March 2008. Polling took place in 40 constituencies throughout the State of Penang, with each electing a State Assemblyman to the Penang State Legislative Assembly. The election was conducted by the Malaysian Election Commission. The legislative body had been dissolved on 13 February by the Governor of Penang, Abdul Rahman Abbas, on the advice of the incumbent Chief Minister, Koh Tsu Koon, who also led the state's ruling coalition at the time, Barisan Nasional (BN). Opposing the BN was the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) alliance, which consisted of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), the People's Justice Party (PKR) and the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). Yap Soo Huey
Yap Soo Huey ( zh, s=叶舒惠, t=葉舒惠, p=Yè Shūhuì, poj=Ia̍p Su-hōe) is a Malaysian politician. She was a member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly representing the constituency of Pulau Tikus for one term from 2013 to 2018. She is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. Yap graduated from Monash University, Australia, in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Science, and was awarded Honours. She then commenced a doctoral candidature, studying the HIV virus, before returning to Penang to work for the Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, on his science council. She was appointed as Lim's Science, Technology and Innovation Officer. In the 2013 election, Yap contested the seat of Pulau Tikus for Lim's DAP. The People's Alliance ( ms, Pakatan Rakyat; abbrev: PR) was an informal Malaysian political coalition and successor to Barisan Alternatif (BA). The political coalition was formed by the People's Justice Party (PKR), Democratic Action Party (DAP), and Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) on 1 April 2008, after the 12th Malaysian general election, having previously formed the Barisan Alternatif (Alternative Front) in the 10th general election. On 20 April 2010, the Sarawak National Party (SNAP) officially joined as a member of the Pakatan Rakyat after being expelled from Barisan Nasional, but quit the coalition on 6 May 2011. Ayer Rajah is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located within the Pulau Tikus suburb, the neighbourhood lies west of the city centre. This leafy, affluent neighbourhood, situated adjacent to the Penang Botanic Gardens, mostly consists of landed properties such as bungalows and semi-detached houses, surrounded by tree-lined avenues.
