''Psychonauts'' is a 2005 platform video game developed by Double Fine Productions. The game was initially published by Majesco Entertainment and THQ for Microsoft Windows, Xbox and PlayStation 2. In 2011, Double Fine acquired the rights for the title, allowing the company to republish the title with updates for modern gaming systems and ports for Mac OS X and Linux. ''Psychonauts'' follows the player-character Razputin (Raz), a young boy gifted with psychic abilities who runs away from the circus to try to sneak into a summer camp for those with similar powers to become a "Psychonaut", a spy with psychic abilities. He finds that there is a sinister plot occurring at the camp that only he can stop. The game is centered on exploring the strange and imaginative minds of various characters that Raz encounters as a Psychonaut-in-training/"Psycadet" to help them overcome their fears or memories of their past, so as to gain their help and progress in the game. ''Psychonauts 2'' is a platform game developed by Double Fine and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game was announced at The Game Awards 2015 ceremony, and released on August 25, 2021 for PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox Series X/S, and on May 24, 2022 for Linux and macOS. Like the game's Psychonauts, predecessor, the player controls Raz, a young acrobat that is training to become a Psychonaut, a member of an international task force that uses their List of psychic abilities, psychic abilities to stop those that perform nefarious deeds with their own psychic forces. Timothy John Schafer (born July 26, 1967) is an American video game designer. He founded Double Fine Productions in July 2000, after having spent over a decade at LucasArts. Nathan Stapley is an American artist. He was the lead artist on Double Fine's adventure game ''Broken Age'' and has worked on ''Psychonauts'' and '' Psychonauts 2''. Career Nathan Stapley started his career at LucasArts as an artist on ''Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine'' and '' Star Wars Episode I: Racer''. Peter Nelson McConnell (born April 19, 1960), also known as Peter Mc, is an American video game composer and musician, best known for his work at LucasArts and for composing the soundtracks for every '' Sly Cooper'' game since the second installment. Erik Wolpaw is an American video game writer. He and Chet Faliszek wrote the pioneering video game website Old Man Murray. He subsequently worked for game developers Double Fine Productions and Valve, and is known for his work on video games including ''Half-Life 2'', ''Psychonauts'', ''Portal'', ''Portal 2'' and '' Half-Life: Alyx''. Scott Campbell (born December 28, 1973), known professionally as Scott C., is an American artist and production designer, known for his work for LucasArts and Double Fine Productions. Early life Born and raised in San Jose, California, Scott studied illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and graduated with a BFA in Illustration focusing on comic and children's book illustration in 1992. Career After graduation, Campbell began at LucasArts as concept artist on children's ''Star Wars'' games.
