Pseudodaphnella
''Pseudodaphnella'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Raphitomidae. In the past this generic name, ''Pseudodaphnella'', has been refused recognition by most modern writers, who have distributed its constituents among Mangilia, Clathurella, or Daphnella. Hedley, C. 1922. A revision of the Australian Turridae. Records of the Australian Museum 13(6): 213-359, pls 42-56
This genus has a morphological close relationship to '' Kermia.'' Together they form a homogeneous complex. Both are also close to the conoidean genera '' Exomilus'' Hedley ...

Pseudodaphnella Attenuata
''Pseudodaphnella attenuata'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Raphitomidae. Description The length of the shell attains 11 mm , its diameter 4 mm. (Original description) The lanceolate shell is rather solid and tall. Its colour is uniform yellow. There are seven whorls remaining. Sculpture:—Large deep meshes are formed on the body of the shell by the intersection of the main sculpture. The ribs are nine on the penultimate and eleven on the body whorl. They are elevated, perpendicular, alternating from whorl to whorl, twice their breadth apart, vanishing on the base and below the suture. The spirals are sharp, elevated cords, thirteen on the body whorl, three on the penultimate, overriding the ribs. On the snout the ribs only survive as nodules. Along the fasciole area the spirals are entirely different, being three or four closely packed threads. The aperture is wide . The varix is taller and broader than the ribs. There are seven sm ...

Kermia
''Kermia'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Raphitomidae. This genus is closely related to ''Pseudodaphnella'' Boettger, 1895. They form together a genus-complex with a highly underestimated diversity, leading to intermixed clades. The lack of morphologic criteria requires the generic assignment of several species clearly to be reconsidered. Description The elongate, fusiform shell has a narrow aperture that is nearly half the length of the shell. The protoconch consists of two whorls. But only in a few species the sculpture of the protoconch is coarsely diagonally reticulate. The shell structure is reticulate with glossy nodules on the intersections of the ribs and lirae. The siphonal canal is short and wide. The U-shaped or linguiform anal sinus is deep, located near the suture and is surrounded by a thick outer lip. The outer lip is denticulate within. The columella is smooth. Distribution This marine genus is widely distributed in the ...

Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=596309 on 2019-11-11 Description The length of the shell attains 6 mm, its diameter 2.5 mm. The ovate shell contains probably 7 whorls (the apex is missing). The 5 remaining whorls are slightly convex and contain 12 longitudinal ribs (continuing to the base of the body whorl). The spiral lirae form small nodules when crossing the ribs (4 in the penultimate whorl, 10 in the body whorl) and are very cancellate. The aperture is very narrow and measures about 3/7 of the total length. The outer lip The lips are the visible body part at the mouth of many animals, including humans. Raphitomidae
Raphitomidae is a family of small to medium-sized sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Conoidea.Bouchet P. & Rocroi J.-P. (Ed.) (2005). "Classification and nomenclator of gastropod families". ''Malacologia'' 47(1-2). . 397 pp. Bouchet, Kantor ''et al''. elevated in 2011 the subfamily Raphitominae (which at that point had been placed in the family Conidae) to the rank of family. This was based on a cladistical analysis of shell morphology, radular characteristics, anatomical characters, and a dataset of molecular sequences of three gene fragments. The family was found to be monophyletic. Description The Raphitomidae is the largest, most diverse and most variable taxon in the Conoidea, with the greatest number of species and the largest ecological range (from the tropics to the pole) and largest vertical range (intertidal to hadal depths). The shells of species in the Raphitomidae are very variable in shape (buccinoid to ovate, elongate-fusiform, or ...

Mangilia
''Mangelia'' is a large genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Mangeliidae. The genus has been used for a long time as a wastebasket taxon. There have been many described species, many of which have become synonyms. Among the remaining accepted names a good number are still in doubt and are little known. They are only tentatively placed within the genus ''Mangelia''. This genus was named ''Mangelia'' by Leach and accepted by Risso in 1826. Later, some authors, such as Lovén in 1846, spelled it inadvertently as ''Mangilia'', to honor the Italian malacologist Mangili Giuseppe (1767-1829). This had led to some confusion. Description The shell has a fusiform shape. It is mostly longitudinally ribbed The spire is elongated, turriculated, acuminated. The lip is very finely rugosely denticulated. The lip is thickened and slightly sinuated at the upper part. The siphonal canal is short, more or less truncated. The columella is smooth. The sinus is near the sut ...

Clathurella
''Clathurella'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Clathurellidae. Description The shell is fusiform or turriculated. The columella lip has no callosity, except a small posterior tooth. There is no operculum. The surface is cancellated and has a more ventricose form, and a more evident siphonal canal. This distinguishes it from '' Mangelia''; the emargination of the outer lip from '' Clavatula''; the texture and sculpture of the surface from Bela and ''Daphnella.''
