Provincial Highway No. 11 (Taiwan)
Provincial Highway 11, also known as Hualien-Taitung Coastal Highway for its connection between Hualien County and Taitung County is located on the east coast of Taiwan. This highway, which is 178.229 km, begins in Hualien City and ends in Taitung City. It also has 3 branch lines. The East Coast National Scenic Area and Farglory Ocean Park (Hualien Ocean Park) are also located on this highway. It was called Tōkaidō during Japanese rule period. Route Description The highway begins in Ji'an, Hualien at the intersection of Provincial Highway 9. The road runs parallel along the eastern coast of Taiwan for most of its length, passing through coastal townships of Shoufeng and Fengbin in Hualien County, as well as Changbin, Chenggong, Donghe, Beinan, Taitung City in Taitung County before ending at Highway 9 in Taimali, Taitung. Ji'an, Hualien
Ji'an Township (; hak, Kit-ôn-hiông), is a rural township in Hualien County, Taiwan. It has 18 villages and a population of 83,750 inhabitants. Ji'an is the second most populous place in Hualien County after Hualien city). The township has mountainsides, a seashore and a wide alluvial plain. Chenggong, Taitung
Chenggong Township or Chengkung Township() is an urban township in Taitung County, Taiwan. It is a coastal town facing the Pacific Ocean. Chenggong Fish Harbor is just west of downtown. History Chenggong was originally an Amis settlement from which came the Hokkien name Moalaulau (). During Japanese rule, it was renamed to of Taitō Prefecture. After 1945, to avoid confusion with Singang Township of Chiayi County and to distinguish it from Tainan's Sinckan (now called Sinshih), it was changed to Chenggong, which commemorates the eponymous general Koxinga (Cheng Ch'eng-kung) who expelled the Dutch from Taiwan. Sanxiantai
Sanxiantai ( Amis: nuwalian; ) is an area containing a beach and several islands located on the coast of Chenggong Township, Taitung County, Taiwan. The beach stretches for ten kilometers in length. It is situated at the 112-kilometer mark. A popular tourist attraction for its rocky coastal views, the area is well known for its long footbridge in the shape of a sea dragon that connects the coast to the largest island. Huatung Valley
The Huadong Valley or Hualien–Taitung Valley (), also known as East Rift Valley or the Longitudinal Valley, is a long and narrow valley located between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range. It is also recognized as a plain area which stretches for about 180 kilometers near the eastern coast of Taiwan, passes from Hualien City at the north to Taitung City at the south. It was called or simply Nakasendō during the era of Japanese rule. The valley is believed to be part of the northern terminus of the Philippine Mobile Belt, a complex collection of tectonic plate fragments and volcanic intrusions. There are three large river systems flowing through this valley, including the Hualien, Xiugulan and Beinan Rivers, all of which flow into the Pacific Ocean. Beinan, Taitung
Beinan Township or Peinan Township () is a rural township in Taitung County, Taiwan. It has a population of 17,435 as of November 2017. It is home to the Puyuma and Rukai peoples. Donghe, Taitung
Donghe Township () is a rural township located in northeastern Taitung County, Taiwan. The population is mainly the indigenous Amis people. The main industry is agriculture. History Donghe Township has an old name of ''Fafokod'' (馬武窟), which means "fishing by net" in the Ami language. Many of its prehistory artifacts is found at Dulan Site. Under Qing dynasty rule, the township was under the jurisdiction of the Pi-lam Subprefecture (卑南廳) and "Taitung direct-controlled state" (臺東直隸州) jurisdiction. In 1920, during the period of Japanese rule, the Toran local office (都蘭區役場) was set up. In 1937, it was changed to Toran Village (都蘭庄), under Shinkō District (新港郡), Taitō Prefecture.
