Guangfu, Hualien
Guangfu Township () is a rural township located in mid Huatung Valley between Central Mountain Range and coastal Range of Hualien County, Taiwan. The indigenous Amis people make up about half of the population. The main economical activity is agriculture. Geography The township is located at the Huatung Valley. Administrative divisions The township has 14 villages with a population of 11,975 inhabitants. Danongdafu Forest Park
The Danongdafu Forest Park () is a forest in Guangfu Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. History In 2002, the Forestry Bureau started to re-purpose agricultural land in the area to become forests. Trees were planted and the area became a recreational park in 2010. Geology The forest is a flatland forest type and is located along the Huadong Valley. It spans over an area of 12.5 km2. It consists of over a million trees with almost 20 different types commonly found at low altitude. It consists of various outdoor sculptures and statues depicting the culture of Taiwanese indigenous peoples. Events The forest is the venue for the Hualien Hot Air Balloon Festival. Taitung Line
The Taitung Line (), also known as the Hua-Tung line (), is the southern section of the Eastern Line of the Taiwan Railways Administration. The line starts at the Hualien station and ends at the Taitung station. It is 161.5 km long, including the main segment of 155.7 km between Hualien and Taitung. The coastal branch lines of Hualien and Taitung were discarded after the broadening plan in 1982. The broadcasts of the station names on Taitung line are made in five languages: Mandarin, Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka, English, and Amis. Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. Matai'an Wetland Ecological Park
The Matai'an Wetland Ecological Park () is a wetland in Guangfu Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. Name ''Matai'an'', which means tree bean, comes from the Matai'an tribe of the indigenous Ami people who inhabit the area around the wetland. The wetland is also called the Fataan Wetland Ecological Park. History The area around the wetland has been used by the local tribe for farming and fishing. Recently, the area has been developed for tourism purpose where currently it has three inns. Geology The wetland is located at the foot of Mount Masi and spans over an area of almost 100 hectares. Hualien Sugar Factory
The Hualien Sugar Factory () is a former sugar refinery in Guangfu Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. History The factory was originally established as the Hualien Manufacturing Plant Dahe Factory during the Japanese rule of Taiwan in 1913. During World War II, the factory was heavily damaged by the United States Air Force bombing. After assessment, it was decided that the factory to be restored. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, it was renamed to Hualien Sugar Factory of the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. After full restoration, the sugar production restarted in 1948. The factory finally ceased to operate in 2002. Transportation The factory is accessible within walking distance south of Guangfu Station of Taiwan Railways.
