Prossedi (locally ''Prussedi'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Latina in the Italy, Italian region Lazio, located about southeast of Rome and about east of Latina, Lazio, Latina. Prossedi borders the following municipalities: Amaseno, Giuliano di Roma, Maenza, Priverno, Roccasecca dei Volsci, Villa Santo Stefano. The village was founded by refugees from the destruction of Priverno in the 7th century. It was a possession of several baronial families, including the House of Chigi, Chigi and the Conti. Description A classic example of a medieval town, Pisterzo is a small village in the province of Latina located in the mountainous area of the Ausoni Mountains and overlooking the Amaseno's valley from which rise Monti Lepini, at 466 meters above sea level. The village has about eighty year-round inhabitants, but in the summer it is often filled with vacationers who like to sit in peace and in a cool place. The House of Chigi () is an Italian princely family of Sienese origin descended from the counts of Ardenghesca, which possessed castles in the Maremma, southern Tuscany. Later, the family settled in Rome. The earliest authentic mention of them is in the 13th century, with one Alemanno, counsellor of the Republic of Siena. Priverno
Priverno is a town, ''comune'' in the province of Latina, Lazio, central Italy. It was called ''Piperno'' until 1927. It has a station of the Rome-Naples railway mainline. Nearby is the Monti Lepini chain. It was the birthplace of the canonist Reginald of Piperno. History ''Privernum'' is described by Livy as a flourishing Volscian site, which was conquered and destroyed by the Romans in the late 4th century BC. The Appian Way passed nearby. The town recovered under the Roman rule, but disappeared after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, probably destroyed by Saracen attacks. Amaseno
Amaseno (local dialect: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Frosinone in the Italian region Lazio, located about southeast of Rome and about south of Frosinone, located in the Monti Lepini mountain area. Its inhabitants are primarily farmers. The village is very ancient and named in the ''Aeneid''. Many of Amaseno's people have immigrated to the United States of America, in Canada and South America (especially in Brazil). Main sights The Catholic Church situated at the village's center, St. Mary of Amaseno, houses a relic of St. Lawrence, the ancient Roman deacon martyred in the 3rd century. A vial of the martyr's blood is enshrined there, and every 10 August on his feast day, the day on which his martyrdom is commemorated, it liquifies.
