Pisterzo is part of the municipality of Prossedi in Lazio, Italy. Description A classic example of a medieval town, Pisterzo is a small village in the province of Latina located in the mountainous area of the Ausoni Mountains and overlooking the Amaseno's valley from which rise Monti Lepini, at 466 meters above sea level. The village has about eighty year-round inhabitants, but in the summer it is often filled with vacationers who like to sit in peace and in a cool place. Prossedi (locally ''Prussedi'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Latina in the Italy, Italian region Lazio, located about southeast of Rome and about east of Latina, Lazio, Latina. Prossedi borders the following municipalities: Amaseno, Giuliano di Roma, Maenza, Priverno, Roccasecca dei Volsci, Villa Santo Stefano. The village was founded by refugees from the destruction of Priverno in the 7th century. It was a possession of several baronial families, including the House of Chigi, Chigi and the Conti. Ausoni Mountains
The Monti Ausoni or Ausoni Mountains constitute a mountain range in southern Lazio, in central Italy. It is part of the Antiappennini, a group running from the Apennines chain to the Tyrrhenian Sea. They are bounded to the north by the Monti Lepini and to the south by the Monti Aurunci. They take the name from the ancient tribe of the Ausoni. The Monti Ausoni consist mainly of friable limestone. Altitudes vary from hills to the 1,152 m of Cima del Nibbio and the 1,141 m of Monte Calvo. Near Pastena are the Grotte di Pastena (caves). Part of the mountains is protected by a wilderness area, which was established in 1999. It covers 4,230 hectares. Most of the valleys are covered in forests (of oak, cork oak and maple). Amaseno
Amaseno (local dialect: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Frosinone in the Italian region Lazio, located about southeast of Rome and about south of Frosinone, located in the Monti Lepini mountain area. Its inhabitants are primarily farmers. The village is very ancient and named in the ''Aeneid''. Many of Amaseno's people have immigrated to the United States of America, in Canada and South America (especially in Brazil). Main sights The Catholic Church situated at the village's center, St. Mary of Amaseno, houses a relic of St. Lawrence, the ancient Roman deacon martyred in the 3rd century. A vial of the martyr's blood is enshrined there, and every 10 August on his feast day, the day on which his martyrdom is commemorated, it liquifies. The reliquary vial has been verified by scientists to contain true blood, along with a piece of skin and some fat and ash. Monti Lepini
The Monti Lepini (Italian: Lepini mountains) are a mountain range which belongs to the Anti-Apennines of the Lazio region of central Italy, between the two provinces of Latina and Rome. The range borders to the north with the Colli Albani, to the south-east with the Amaseno Valley, to the south with the Monti Ausoni and to the west with the Pontinian Plain. The highest peak is the Monte Semprevisa (1,536 m). The name derives probably from the Latin ''lapis'' (stone), referring to the mountains’ limestone rocks. In ancient times the area was settled by the Volsci. The most striking natural feature is the Gardens of Ninfa.
