Prince Of Wales Stadium
The Prince of Wales Stadium is a multi-sport stadium in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, with a running track and athletics facilities. Since 2014, the stadium has been owned and managed by The Cheltenham Trust. The stadium is home to Smiths Rugby Club who use the ground for training and home games. It is also home to Cheltenham & County Harriers. The Cheltenham Rugby Festival rugby league nines event has also been held there. History The Prince of Wales Stadium was opened in 1981. A cricket match between Australia and Gloucestershire was played as part of its opening. In September 1981, Cheltenham Tigers Rugby Football Club moved to the stadium. They played a match against Harlequins to celebrate the occasion. The track was reopened on 2 October 1999 after the track surface had been resurfaced with Polytan PUR at a cost of £185,000. Gloucestershire All Golds is a rugby league team based at the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. University of Gloucestershire All Golds consists of six different teams, with the first team entering Kingstone Press Championship 1 for the 2013 season and exiting it to join the Southern League in 2017. Below the semi-professional side, there are two student teams that compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues; the All Golds in the Super 8 national league and the All Blues in the Wales and West Division. The Cheltenham Trust is a registered charity that manages several cultural and leisure venues in the spa town of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. It manages Cheltenham Town Hall, The Wilson (Cheltenham) the town's Art Gallery and Museum, Pittville Pump Room and Prince of Wales Stadium and the Leisure @ sports centre and swimming complex. GRL Cheltenham Rugby Festival is a rugby league nines event held in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. It is organised by the Gloucestershire County Rugby League in partnership with Cheltenham Borough Council and the Tourist Board. Rugby league nines (or simply nines) is a version of rugby league football played with nine players on each side. The game is substantially the same as full rugby league, with some differences in rules and shorter games. Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Gloucestershire.
