Prince Edward—Hastings was a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1999 to 2018. Its population in 2006 was 113,227. History The provincial electoral district was created in 1999 when provincial ridings were defined to have the same borders as federal ridings. It initially consisted of the County of Prince Edward, and the part of the County of Hastings lying south of and including the townships of Hungerford, Huntingdon and Rawdon, south of but excluding the Village of Stirling, and excluding the City of Trenton. In 2003, it was redefined to consist of the County of Prince Edward and the County of Hastings (except the City of Quinte West). Todd Andrew Smith (born October 7, 1970) is a Canadian politician who has been the Ontario Minister of Energy since June 18, 2021. He has been the member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Bay of Quinte since 2018, and previously represented Prince Edward—Hastings from 2011 to 2018. Tweed is a municipality located in central-eastern Ontario, Canada, in Hastings County. History The Municipality of Tweed is an amalgamated municipality comprising the former Village of Tweed and the former Hungerford Township and former Elzevir & Grimsthorpe Townships. The Municipality was incorporated on 1 January 1998 as a lower tier municipality within the County of Hastings two tier governing system. The post office was established in 1852. Elzevir Township (formed circa 1869, location of a major gold strike) and Grimsthorpe Township (formed 22 February 1867 during the local gold rush) had been administered as one entity since before 1968 until amalgamation into the Municipality of Tweed. Ernie Parsons (born June 5, 1946) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Prince Edward—Hastings for the Ontario Liberal Party from 1999 to 2007. In 2007 he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace. Wollaston is an incorporated township (Canada), township in Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. The township had a population of 670 in the Canada 2016 Census. Property taxes provide the primary source of income for the township accounting for 61% of the revenue required to balance the 2017 budget. Another major source of revenue for the township was provincial funding via thOntario Municipality Partnership Fund(OMPF) which provided approximately 80% of non-tax revenue.
