PreussenElektra (nuclear Energy Company)
PreussenElektra GmbH (former name: E.ON Kernkraft GmbH) is a subsidiary of the German utility E.ON. It is responsible for operation and decommissioning of the E.ON's nuclear assets. After creation of E.ON in 2000, E.ON Kernkraft was created based on the nuclear assets of PreussenElektra AG and Bayernwerk AG. In July 2016, E.ON Kernkraft was renamed PreussenElektra GmbH. PreussenElektra GmbH operates and owns 83% of the 1.4 GW Grohnde, 80% of the 1.4 GW Brokdorf, and 75% of the 1.5 GW Isar 2 nuclear power plants. Some of these are to be shut down by 2022. It is decommissioning Isar 1 and Unterweser nuclear power plants. PreussenElektra (''Preußische Elektrizitäts AG'') was a German electric company that existed from 1927 to 2000. From its founding until around 1970, it was owned (directly or indirectly) by the Republic of Prussia and the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1929 until 2000, it was a subsidiary of VEBA. Grohnde Nuclear Power Plant
The former Grohnde Nuclear Power Plant is located in Grohnde in the Hamelin-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony. It had one reactor that used 193 fuel assemblies and utilized both enriched uranium and MOX fuel. In 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990 and 1998 the reactor produced more net electricity for the respective year than any other reactor in the world. Gundremmingen Nuclear Power Plant
The Gundremmingen Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear power station in Germany. It is located in Gundremmingen, district of Günzburg, Bavaria. It is operated by Kernkraftwerk Gundremmingen GmbH, a joint operation of RWE Power AG (75%) and PreussenElektra (25%). Unit B was shut down at the end of 2017. Unit C, the last boiling water reactor in Germany, was shut down on New Year's Eve 2021, as part of the German nuclear phase out. However, Gundremmingen unit C as well as the other two German nuclear reactors shut down that day (Brokdorf and Grohnde) remain capable of restarting operations as of March 2022.
