Preston Raiders
The Preston Raiders were a Canadian Junior "B" ice hockey team from the town of Preston, Ontario which later became Cambridge, Ontario. History The team started out as the Preston Pals of the Central Junior C Hockey League. They changed their name to the Raiders in 1965. In 1969, the Preston Raiders joined the Central Junior 'B' Hockey League. In 1974, the team left the Central league and joined the Waterloo-Wellington Junior 'B' Hockey League, which was a predecessor league to the current Midwestern Junior B Hockey League The Mid-Western Junior Hockey League (MWJHL) was a junior ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association from 1973 until 2007. The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada. It is under the supervision of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Preston, Ontario
Preston is a community in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario. Prior to 1973 it was an independent town, incorporated in 1915, but amalgamation with the town of Hespeler, Ontario, the city of Galt, Ontario and the village of Blair formed the new municipality of Cambridge. Parts of the surrounding townships were also included. No population data is available for the former Preston since the Census reports cover only the full area of Cambridge, though the combined population of the census tracts covering the majority of Preston reported a population of 20,008 as of the 2016 Canada Census.
