Prespes ( el, Πρέσπες) is a municipality in the Florina regional unit, Western Macedonia, Greece. Its population in 2011 was 7,380. The seat of the municipality is in Laimos. It was named after Lake Prespa, in the western part of the municipality. Krystallopigi
Krystallopigi ( el, Κρυσταλλοπηγή) is a former community in Florina regional unit, West Macedonia, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Prespes, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 101.984 km2. The population is 359 (2011). The main village is also called Krystallopigi. After the Greek Civil War, the village was resettled with Aromanians from Epirus. Today they still form the majority of the towns population. Here is located the depopulated village Vambel. Krystallopigi borders Albania to the west; Prespes municipality to the north; Korestia municipality, Kastoria regional unit, to the east and southeast; and Kastraki community, Kastoria regional unit, to the south. A major road border crossing into Albania is located here. The Albanian side of the border crossing is known as Kapshtica, 9 km east from Bilisht. Laimos ( el, Λαιμός, before 1926: Ράμπη - ''Rampi'') is a village in the Florina Regional Unit in West Macedonia, Greece. It is the seat of the Prespes Municipality. Name The village was originally known as ''Rampi'' (Greek: Ράμπη). Among speakers of the Macedonian language in the village, they call the place Роби (''Robi'') and those in surrounding or more distant villages use the forms Раби (''Rabi''), Ръби (''R'bi'') and Ръмби (''R'mbi''). France Bezlaj derived toponyms with the Slavic element pronounced as ''rob'' from ''rub'' (edge) and depending on their location, as meaning either ''corner'', ''edge'' or ''shore''. Pianka Włodzimierz supports that derivation for the village name, as its located on the shore and the local pronunciation of the toponym's ''o'' sound. Folk etymology associates the toponym with the Slavic word ''rob'' for slave. In Albanian, the village is called Rëmb. Its modern name Laimos (Greek: Λαιμός) means 'neck ... Lake Prespa
The Lake Prespa is located on the tripoint of North Macedonia, Albania, and Greece. It is a system of two lakes separated by an isthmus: the Great Prespa Lake, divided between the three countries, and the Little Prespa Lake, mostly within Greece. They are the highest tectonic lakes in the Balkans, standing at an elevation of . The area contains three national parks: Prespa in Albania, Galičica in North Macedonia and Prespa in Greece.
