Presidente Hayes () is a department in Paraguay. The capital is the city of Villa Hayes. The department was named after U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes, who awarded the territory to Paraguay while arbitrating a boundary dispute between Paraguay and Argentina after the Paraguayan War. Fuerte Olimpo () is a city in Paraguay. It is the capital of the department of Alto Paraguay. Straddling the river Paraguay which forms the border with Brazil, Fuerte Olimpo is Paraguay's northernmost departmental capital, located over 830 km (515 mi) north of the capital Asunción. It was originally called Fuerte Borbón. The city is also known as “la puerta de entrada al Pantanal”, or entrance to the Pantanal region. Fuerte Olimpo is on east of Chaco Boreal on east shore of Paraguay River near the mouth of Blanco River, to the north the moist ground called humedales from the Gran Pantanal. Timbó is a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina in the South region of Brazil. It is located at 26º49'24" from latitude South and 49º16'18" from longitude west, at an altitude of 68 meters. Its population in 2020 was 44,977 inhabitants. It has an area of 130.31 km ². History German immigrants, led by Frederico Donner, settled at the confluence of the rivers Benedito and of Cedros, that came from the Colony of Blumenau. Italian immigrants also arrived later, and today each of these two ethnic groups account for almost 50%. Most immigrants who arrived in Timbó came from Germany (Pomerania and Hamburg) and from Italy ( Chiavenna and Trent).
