departments ( es, departamentos; singular – ''departamento)'' and one capital district (''distrito capital''). The country is divided into two regions: The "Occidental Region" or Chaco (Boquerón, Alto Paraguay and Presidente Hayes), and the "Oriental Region" or Parana (other departments and the capital district).
