Cook County Board Of Commissioners
The Cook County Board of Commissioners is a legislative body made up of 17 commissioners who are elected by district, and a president who is elected county-wide, all for four-year terms. Cook County, which includes the City of Chicago, is the United States' second-largest county with a population of 5.2 million residents. The county board sets policy and laws for the county regarding property, public health services, public safety, and maintenance of county highways. It is presided over by its president, currently Toni Preckwinkle. George Dunne
George W. Dunne (February 20, 1913 – May 28, 2006) was an American politician within the Democratic Party from Chicago, Illinois. He was President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners from 1969 to 1991; the longest service of anyone holding that office. Early life He was born in the Near North Side of Chicago, one of eight children of John and Ellen Dunne. His father died when he was twelve years old. He graduated from De La Salle Institute and attended Northwestern University for a year but dropped out. He became active in Democratic politics and was employed by the Park District, an agency in which many Democratic precinct captains were given patronage jobs. During World War II and the Korean War he served overseas as a member of the Illinois Air National Guard's 126th Fighter-Bomber Wing. The Populist Party was a political party in the United States between 1984 and 1996. It was conservative and often white nationalist in its ideology. The party was unrelated to the original American Populist Party or other American parties that have used the same name. Aloysius Majerczyk
Aloysius Majerczyk (died January 19, 1996) was an American politician who served on the Chicago City Council from 1979 until 1987. Majerczyk served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. In 1959 he founded Standard Glass Co. and became a Chicago police officer. He resided in Brighton Park. After two unsuccessful runs for Alderman, Majerczyk was elected in the 1979 election defeating incumbent George Kwak. Majerczyk was the first Alderman to explicitly come out in favor of Republican candidate Bernard Epton in the 1983 Chicago mayoral election. In a common trend in Chicago's ethnic white wards, Epton took a commanding 84% of the vote in the 12th ward. After the inauguration of Washington, Majerczyk continued his opposition to Washington during a vote on the reorganization of the City Council. Harold Washington Party
The Harold Washington Party was founded in Chicago in the late 1980s to represent the interests of the city's African-American population who felt disenchanted with the mainline Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. The party was created ahead of the 1989 Chicago mayoral special election, 1989 special elections to fill the mayoral vacancy in Chicago created when Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor, died in office. It nominated a candidate for the 1989 special election for Chicago mayor as well as and several other offices in Cook County, Illinois, Cook County. Aldo A. DeAngelis (March 13, 1931 – February 13, 2004) was an American politician and businessman. Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, DeAngelis graduated from Bloom High School. He served as a public information officer in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. DeAngelis graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He also sent to University of Chicago and Governors State University. He moved to Texas and started a steel and tube company.
