Prakash Saput ( ne, प्रकाश सपुत) is a Nepalese singer, composer, model, and actor, known for his contribution towards Nepali folk music. He is known for raising social and political awareness through his music. He gained the recognition from the mass with the song '' Bola Maya'' in 2018. Since then he has sung songs like ''Mero Pani Haina Ra Yo Desh'' and ''Pir''. Personal life Prakash Saput comes from a Dalit family. Since his childhood, he has enjoyed singing and dancing in local occasions in his village. When he was a kid, he wanted to be an actor. He also worked as a radio jockey for Dhaulagiri FM, where he hosted a program called ''Just for You'', where his responsibilities involved writing and presenting plays, as well as recording and mixing audio. Khas people (; ne, खस) popularly known as Khas Arya are an Indo-Aryan peoples, Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group native to the Himalayas, Himalayan region of South Asia, what is now present-day Nepal, Indian states of Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Sikkim. Historically, Khas were the speakers of an ancient ''Khas language'' from the Indo-Aryan language family and the earliest recorded speakers of the Western Pahari languages. Dohori ( or ), also known as Lok Dohori, is a type of Nepali folk song usually sung by two teams, one of men and another of women. It is in the form of question and answer where a team sings a question and the opponent replies through an equally lyrical impromptu couplet and vice versa. The term ''dohori'', means 'back and forth' and refers to the exchange of lyrical phrases between the contesting singers. The song production is collaborative and involves many individuals. Like all Nepali folk songs, dohori originated in the rural areas of Nepal and now is sung in both rural and urban settlements and is popular amongst the Nepali speaking diaspora in the UK, US, and Bahrain. The men and women sit on opposite sides and the goal is to keep improvising until one team runs out of witty answers. The dohori is said to have stretched to seven days and nights during the past. Music of Nepal refers to the various musical genres played and listened to in Nepal. With more than fifty ethnic groups in Nepal, the country's music is highly diverse. Genres like Tamang Selo, Chyabrung, Dohori, Adhunik Geet, Bhajan, Filmi music, Ghazal, Classical music, songs and Ratna music are widely played and popular, but many other less common genres are yet to be cataloged.
