Prague City Assembly
The Prague City Assembly ( cs, Zastupitelstvo hlavního města Prahy (ZHMP)) is the elected legislative body of Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. The capital city of Prague is a separate type of territorial self-governing entity and is therefore neither a region nor a municipality. The assembly has similar powers to those of Czech regional and municipal councils. It is composed of 55 to 70 members who are elected as part of the municipal council elections for 4 years. The assembly meets in the New City Hall municipal building on '' Mariánské náměstí''. It usually meets once a month, with the exception of the months of July and August, or as needed. Assembly meetings are, unlike Prague City Council meetings, publicly accessible and are available live and recorded on the website of the City Hall of Prague. 2022 Prague Municipal Election
The 2022 Prague municipal election was held in September 2022 as part of the 2022 Czech municipal elections, nationwide municipal elections to elect members of the Prague City Assembly. It was a victory for Spolu (Czech Republic), Spolu which received the highest number of votes and seats ahead of ANO 2011 in second place. The Czech Pirate Party led by incumbent Mayor Zdeněk Hřib finished third. New coalition was formed 5 months after election and it consists of Spolu, Pirates and STAN. Bohuslav Svoboda became the new mayor. Prague City Council
The Prague City Council, officially the Council of the Capital City of Prague ( cs, Rada hlavního města Prahy (RHMP)), is the executive body of Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. It is appointed by the Prague City Assembly, who elects the council from their own members. The council has 11 members, including the Mayor of Prague, four deputy mayors, and six other councillors. Council meetings are held every Tuesday, or otherwise as needed, and, unlike assembly meetings, are closed to the public. Minutes are taken of the meeting, which every citizen has the right to inspect. Mariánské náměstí (translated as ''Virgin Mary Square'') is a square in Old Town, Prague 1 in Czechia. It is surrounded by significant public buildings such Clementinum with National library, New City Hall with Mayor of the City of Prague residence and Prague City Council, Clam-Gallas Palace and Trauttmansdorff Palace. History Current name of the square is derived from extinct Church of Virgin Mary Na louži, which was placed next to the current Clam-Gallas Palace.
