Prager is an impact crater on the Moon's far side. It was named after German-American astronomer Richard Prager. It is located just to the northeast of the crater Love. Apollo 14
Apollo 14 (January 31, 1971February 9, 1971) was the eighth crewed mission in the United States Apollo program, the third to land on the Moon, and the first to land in the lunar highlands. It was the last of the " H missions", landings at specific sites of scientific interest on the Moon for two-day stays with two lunar extravehicular activities (EVAs or moonwalks). The mission was originally scheduled for 1970, but was postponed because of the investigation following the failure of Apollo 13 to reach the Moon's surface, and the need for modifications to the spacecraft as a result. Richard Prager
Richard A. Prager (November 30, 1883 – July 20, 1945) was a German-American astronomer. Career Prager was born in Hannover, Germany. He became an assistant in the German Academy of Sciences in 1908. The following year he became division head of the ''Observatorio Nacional'' in Santiago, Chile,Hentschel, Klaus (ed.) (1996). ''Physics and National Socialism: An Anthology of Primary Sources'', p. 117, fn. 6. Birkhauser. . where he remained until 1913. He then returned to Berlin, becoming an observer at the Berlin-Babelsberg Observatory. In 1916 he became a professor. He was an early pioneer of stellar photoelectric photometry. An impact crater is a circular depression in the surface of a solid astronomical object formed by the hypervelocity impact of a smaller object. In contrast to volcanic craters, which result from explosion or internal collapse, impact craters typically have raised rims and floors that are lower in elevation than the surrounding terrain. Far Side (Moon)
The far side of the Moon is the lunar hemisphere that always faces away from Earth, opposite to the near side, because of synchronous rotation in the Moon's orbit. Compared to the near side, the far side's terrain is rugged, with a multitude of impact craters and relatively few flat and dark lunar maria ("seas"), giving it an appearance closer to other barren places in the Solar System such as Mercury and Callisto. It has one of the largest craters in the Solar System, the South Pole–Aitken basin. Lane (crater)
Lane is a lunar impact crater. It lies on the far side of the Moon, just to the west of the crater Ten Bruggencate. To the west of Lane is Perepelkin, and to the northwest lies Love. This crater is not heavily eroded, but the rim is somewhat disrupted at the northern and southern ends. To the south the rim has a prominent outward bulge that extends an extra 5–10 km.
