Pool Academy is a Mixed-sex education, mixed secondary school with Academy (English school), academy status, located in Pool, Cornwall, Pool in the English county of Cornwall. History Although other schools had been in the area previously the original Pool School building was opened in 1896. In 1973 work began on a new site across Church Rd and adjacent to Trevenson Church. The school operated between both sites until 2003 when new buildings were added as part of the PFI Schools building scheme. The now listed Victorian school is currently being converted into housing. The school has been known as Pool Comprehensive School and Pool School and Community College before gaining specialist status when it was renamed Pool Business and Enterprise College. An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. Pool ( kw, Poll) is a village in Carn Brea civil parish in west Cornwall, England. It is bypassed by the A30, on the A3047 between Camborne and Redruth, between Tuckingmill and Illogan Highway. Duchy Hockey Club
Duchy Hockey Club (informally ''Duchy HC'') is a Cornish field hockey team based in Redruth, Cornwall, UK. As of 2018–19 the club are currently the newest hockey club in Cornwall, having been formed in January 2009. Duchy are the only hockey club based in the Camborne/ Redruth conurbation.
