Pondicherry Cricket Association
Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP) is the governing body for cricket in Puducherry, formerly known as Pondicherry. Puducherry is a Union Territory in India and for the Puducherry cricket team. On 27 October 2017, Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) granted Associate Membership of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the Cricket Association of Puducherry (CAP). Prior to this, it was affiliated to Tamil Nadu Cricket Association(TNCA) as a District Association. In 2019, CAP was granted full membership of the BCCI. Board Of Control For Cricket In India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. The board was formed in and is a consortium of List of members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, state cricket associations. The state associations select their own representatives who in turn elect the BCCI president. R. E. Grant Govan, Grant Govan was the first BCCI president and Anthony De Mello was its first secretary. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Puducherry (), also known as Pondicherry () or Pondichéry, is a union territory of India, consisting of four small geographically unconnected districts. Puducherry Cricket Team
The Pondicherry cricket team (also Puducherry cricket team) is a cricket team that represents the state of Puducherry in Indian domestic competitions. In July 2018, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the team as one of the nine new sides that would compete in domestic tournaments for the 2018–19 season, including the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In August 2018, Abhishek Nayar, who previously played for Mumbai, decided to join the team. In September 2018, they won their opening fixture of the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, beating Manipur by 8 wickets. However, the next day, the BCCI revoked the team's allowance around players from outside the state the team is located in, after concerns were raised that no local cricketers had played in the match. Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is the governing body of cricket activities in the India state of Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and governs the Tamil Nadu cricket team. Rupa Gurunath is the former president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association who resigned her's job recently and she is a daughter of N Srinivasan.
