Tamil Nadu Cricket Association
Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is the governing body of cricket activities in the India state of Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and governs the Tamil Nadu cricket team. Rupa Gurunath is the former president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association who resigned her's job recently and she is a daughter of N Srinivasan. The TNCA is one of the permanent Test cricket, test centres of the BCCI. History The board was formed when organized league cricket in the state began in Madras Presidency, Madras in 1932. It was formed after two rival bodies: Indian Cricket Federation and Madras Cricket Club merged becoming Madras Cricket Association (M.C.A.). Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Chepauk
Chepauk is a locality in Chennai, India. The name Chepauk is popularly used to refer to the M. A. Chidambaram International Cricket Stadium, also known as the Chepauk Stadium. It is also home to the Chepauk Palace, built in the Indo-Saracenic style. The University of Madras campus is yet another prominent landmark of Chepauk. Indian Cement Company Ground
Indian Cement Company Ground, also known as ICL Sankar Nagar Cricket Ground is a cricket ground located in Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, India. The ground is in Bala Vidyalaya School run by India Cements. It is adjacent to the NH 44 in the village of Thaliyuthu. From 2016, the ground has been used for hosting Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) matches. As of 2020, it has hosted eight first-class and two List A cricket matches. Facilities The ground has a seating capacity of 4,000. It was increased from the 3,400 after addition of two more stands in July 2017. The ground also has dressing rooms, media and commentary boxes. The ground uses up to 60 per cent recycled water from sewage treatment plants for pitch maintenance due to low rainfall in the region. Twenty20
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. A typical Twenty20 game is completed in about two and a half hours, with each innings lasting around 70 minutes and an official 10-minute break between the innings. Varun Vinod Chakravarthy (born 29 August 1991) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a leg spin bowler. Vijay Shankar (cricketer)
Vijay Shankar (born 26 January 1991) is an Indian cricketer who plays for the Tamil Nadu state cricket team. He is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace. Abhinav Mukund (; born 6 January 1990) is an Indian cricketer who plays domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu. He has played for India in seven Test matches. Washington Sundar (born 5 October 1999) is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian cricket team. He also plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. He is a left-handed batsman and right-arm off-spinner. Murali Vijay (born 1 April 1984) is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a right-handed opening batsman. He was a regular member of the Indian Test team until 2018 and plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic first-class cricket.
