Polillo Strait
Polillo () is an island in the northeastern region of the Philippine archipelago. It is the largest island and the namesake of the Polillo Islands. It is separated from Luzon Island by the Polillo Strait and forms the northern side of Lamon Bay. The island itself is subdivided across three municipalities. The municipality of Polillo covers the southern portion of the island, while the northeastern part is administered by the municipality of Burdeos. The northwest is within the jurisdiction of the municipality of Panukulan. The island is also home to the Butaan lizard, a vulnerable relative of the Komodo dragon. As of the 2010 Philippine Census, the island is home to 64,802 individuals. In the mid-16th century, Spaniards came to the island and there they built a chapel. They took charge of the management of the island and many changes and development they brought there upon their times. Polillo, officially the Municipality of Polillo ( tgl, Bayan ng Polillo), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Quezon, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 31,908 people. It is located on the southern part of the eponymous Polillo Island fronting the Philippine Sea and its jurisdiction also includes Balesin Island in Lamon Bay (). History Trade relations between the natives of the Polillo Islands and Chinese merchants existed long before the Spanish conquerors came to the archipelago. Polillo Islands
The Polillo Islands is a group of about 27 islands in the Philippine Sea lying about to the east of the Philippine island of Luzon. It is separated from Luzon Island by the Polillo Strait and forms the northern side of Lamon Bay. The islands are part of the province of Quezon in the Calabarzon region of the Philippines. Lamon Bay
Lamon Bay is a large bay in the southern part of Luzon island in the Philippines. It is a body of water connecting the southern part of Quezon province to the Philippine Sea, a marginal sea of the Pacific Ocean. It borders on the coastal towns of Atimonan, Gumaca, Plaridel, Quezon, Plaridel, Lopez, Quezon, Lopez, Calauag, and the islands of Alabat Island, Alabat. It is a rich fishing ground and the home of various living corals. Most parts of the bay consist of gray sand, some parts are filled with rocks, and other living corals. Burdeos, officially the Municipality of Burdeos ( tl, Bayan ng Burdeos), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Quezon, Philippines.
